Hello all,I stumbled over a detail tab with Users in IAM. It is callled "Notifications” and I have no clue where it is being used. Some process however “reads” the entries en removes them. I expected it to be something for the universal GUI, but I haven't found a single message anywhere when (staying) signed on as a specific user. The message I entered in IAM is removed after an unknown number of minutes however. Can anybody tell me where this could be used for and where such a message can be expected to show up?
Hi Community,When I try to use shortcuts in the universal GUI it automatically edits my lowest detail screen. Am I doing something wrong?
What happened with this option? Is this a matter of time, or can hotfixes be downloaded in a different way?
After upgrading the TW Platform to version 2023.2 I'm having difficulties making a deployment package. The 4th process step keeps hanging at 95% every time I run the deployment task.Seems something to do with the location storage. What do i miss ?
Is there a way to have a user apply his/her own Theme picture?Customers always like to have a little personalization available, so we are thinking of making the theme picture an option so they can apply their personal or company picture the background image. The situation will be using the same application, so only the user is the variable.
Is it possible to replace the Thinkwise icon by a custom icon?
Hi,I have an environment set up in Azure App services. When I log in I can’t see my application, only the IAM and I’m presented with the following screen.I’ve already restarted the WebGui and indicium azure app services but that didn’t fix the issue. How can this be fixed ?
Unfortunately, we couldn't find the answer to the question below in the documentation/community, so we're asking it here. When migrating an existing application to the SF environment, all roles, etc. are also migrated. It turns out that sometimes different roles set permissions on the same objects (tables/fields).Unfortunately, it appears that some (also migrated) user groups contain multiple of these roles, leading to "rights conflicts".Example:role seller has read-only rights to a field in table Arole controller has write permissions on that field in table AUser group "Special employees" contains both rolesIs our conclusion correct that this means that for users with the user group "Special employees" they can only read the field in table A?Are the lowest rights assumed by default? Is this a setting that can be set at the application level? Can we provide insight into these types of "conflicting rights" somewhere? FYI: We use the Windows GUI
We have the following application where you can choose your relation using a task in the menu: My wish is to show the selected relation somewhere in the UI where this is always visible, so the user always knows the context of what he/she is viewing (the task basically sets prefilters on tables).I’m sure we’re not the first ones to stumble upon this. Is there currently any way to do this?I could think of future possible solutions on where to show a ‘global’ variable:Set Breadcrum everywhere to a fixed variable. Show a variable in the top (blue) banner to the left of the username. Be able to change the username using a variable. Be able to change the task name using a variable. Or, not only for tasks, be able to assign functionality to a menu (item).
Is there a way to have the badge auto refresh after updating a table? the table has a badge attached to it (with the select count() from table where id badge control procedure) and we set the intervals to 300 seconds but we are also hoping to know if we can have it update itself after adding new record or deleting a record
I see that in IAM 2023.3 that if i create a file with the name 'app_offline.htm' then i see in the logfile of indicium that the running process flow is aborted.something like:2024-01-08T14:58:06.7288205+01:00 [WRN] Aborting schedule '01/08/2024 13:58:30' of process flow '"system_flow_send_email_notification"' from application 1 because Indicium has received a shutdown signal. (e8c21c8e)But what means aborting?- does it mean it just kills the process flow, (creating a maybe a problem)- or does it mean it waits until all the steps of a process flow are done, while preventing new process flows to be started. (which would be nice)and in de second case - how long will it wait? indefinitely?I have been searching for documentation on this topic but have not been able to find any.
Is there a way to get a different “Display name” for a branch? In the example below I have 3 active branches and they all show the same name. The only way to differentiate between branches is have a look at the appication ID’s .The name shown is always Title_1 from "model_maintenance”. I haven't found a way to have each branch (for instance a branchname or the database name used or a Jira feature number). When testing an application it is very confusing to know which branch is being tested.I have found a similar question in the community, but that one is three years old and concerned the Universal GUI. I'm talking about the Windows GUI.Version of the SF / IAM used: 2023.1Display name application for branches | Thinkwise Community (thinkwisesoftware.com)
I’ve noticed while doing a optimization of a table for universal & WEB Gui, that going from the first page to the last page takes much longer in universal than in WEB Gui.In WEB GUI this takes about 1.5 seconds and in Universal this takes about 12 seconds.Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
When I leave my house every morning, I pick up my car keys from the counter and put them in my pocket. To me, this is a very common way of interacting with an object. I grab the keys, move them into my pocket and let go of the keys. But when it comes to our software, this would happen very differently. I would select the Car keys record, put it in edit mode and change a field indicating the location from Counter to My pocket. I would then save the record and.. *Poof!* – The keys are now in my pocket. Very unnatural if you ask me. Editing the car keys? I sound like a locksmith! This new feature, however, will bring our applications one step closer to the real world: Drag-drop of records! Model-driven drag-dropAs with every feature, the definition of drag-drop is a part of the model. To keep things as easy and accessible as possible, no new logic concepts were introduced. The existing concepts of tasks and corresponding context logic are used. Besides that, variants play a bi
It seems the extended property “CombinedFilterDelay“ does not take in the Universal GUI as it did with the Web GUI. What can I do with Universal to get the same effect back?Screens that take a little longer to show a result get totally locked as perceived by the user, since there are multiple calls awaiting response. Also, is there no indicator that the search is triggered? From a users point of view it seems nothing is happening after typing, unless the result can be shown quick enough and is showing a difference from the starting point.
Is there a way to make use of Font Awesome icons?Since HTML is supported in grid views and form lists, I see new opportunities for making very powerful status overviews, by making use of font awesome icons in stead of images or image lookups. Something like this:
As of version 2023.3.12 the between operator has been added to the filter in the universal gui. However, when I apply this operator on a nvarchar, int or date field, the filter field remains unusable/read only. Does it require an extra setting to function or is this a bug? I am currently using 2013.3.13. Operator ‘contains’ and ‘equal to’ result in an editable field, operator ‘between’ does not:
The search/filter option in the Universal GUI seems to change its appearance depending on the amount of space available.1) Search bar, ready to type2) Looking glass icon that you click to enable typingOption 1Option 2Option 2 after clickingCan I force it to always be the 2nd option? This to make screen uniform, as sometimes you can have both options in one available screen (because of detail tab that has less room). Some of our customer will not understand why they will differ in screen.
Hi there, I am wondering where I can find / download the Thinkwise Extractor.I am currently attempting to upcycle a legacy application to see how much time we can win by using the upcycler. The application had a MariaDB database, which i converted to a Microsoft SQL Server database. From there, I want to use the Upcycler, According to the docs (https://docs.thinkwisesoftware.com/docs/upcycler#extract-the-metadata-from-your-legacy-application), the first step is to “Extract the metadata from your legacy application”. I am investigating if I can use the Thinkwise Extractor for this. I read that it is a command line tool, but I cannot find it in our Thinkwise installation or TCP. How can I make use of the Thinkwise Extractor? Thanks in advance! Nick Janssen
The Web GUI has entered the End of Life phase. As per runtime component lifecycle policy, the release of Thinkwise Platform version 2023.3 is the last version to support the Web GUI. In this blog, you can read about the impact of this change in runtime component support. ImpactAny Web GUI that is still in use today will continue to work. However, upgrading to any upcoming Thinkwise Platform version will not be possible. The Web GUI will not support version 2024.1 and up.Thinkwise will only provide critical security updates for about 1.5 years. When Thinkwise Platform version 2023.3 is no longer supported, the Web GUI will enter the End of Service Life phase. Note that the underlying technologies for the Web GUI are aging, security patches may not always be possible.Furthermore, there will be no further updates to support new operating systems, browser versions and such. The Web GUI may cease to function when the operating environment is subject to change.More information about this life
Hi,Since this morning our previewer does not work in the web gui. It works fine in both Win and Universal. Also, downloading the file in the Web gui works, so the paths should be ok. oh ohAny thoughts on why this is? I don't have a clue now. Blommetje
Hi everyone!Applications built with the Thinkwise platform are usually quite large. Whether that means the application has a lot of screens, tables, users, or anything else, there typically are processes in the application that take a while. To inform users of the progress, you can use the procedure tsf_send_progress. ChallengeThe tricky part when having 10, 20, or even more statements inside the process, is to determine how far the process is in its execution. You would rather not manually place the send progress function before or after every statement and assign a progress value. When new statements are added, or removed, all the progress should be recalculated. However, you do want to inform the user and keep the user up-to-date. How to solve this? This exact scenario occurred in the Software Factory application development. The export model task in the Software Factory is a lengthy process that involves all tables that are part of the model; 295 to be exact at the time of writing.
We are thinking about running 2 instances of Indicium to separate the load. We want to keep one for use with the Universal GUI and another one for possible external processes (which might put more pressure in the service). The thing is that Indicium is responsible for running the scheduled system flows. Is this possible without both indiciums trying to run the scheduled system flows?
I have a screen where people can add attachments. In this case an '.msg’ file has been added. When clicking on the row, the following error comes up: This does not happen on all computers where the application is used. This is the screentype we have created for this part of the screen, which contains the 'Preview component’ to show the content. The error does not show up when other files are being used, for example a .png file.On the computers which have this problem Outlook is installed, also the preview in Windows Explorer does work: I suspect the customer has prevented the use of some files which Thinkwise needs to preview this type of files, but I don't know what files is needs. How can I solve this problem, of where do I need to look to find the solution?
