Propose your fantastic ideas regarding the Thinkwise Platform to our Product Team.
Currently there's no link to the documentation of the Software Factory (SF) from inside the SF. Sometimes I want to look something up in the documentation and have to open my internet browser and navigate to it. Since I don't have it as shortcut link or bookmark, it can take sometime to find it. (For me) it would be handy if I could open the documentation from inside the Software Factory. For example from the 'Developer' tab. There is then a button I can press that will bring me to the documentation of the subject I'm working on. For example: Then the button brings me to: https://office.thinkwisesoftware.com/docs/docs/sf/functionality.html
For a custom demo we needed to show many checkmarks in a grid. Normaly this is not a problem but many of those checkmarks had very long names. This created an issue because we didn't want our user to have a horizontal scrollbar for this information. To work around this we tried to create Grid names which were vertical, just like in their old application: To replicate this in the Thinkwise application we used many breaks in the grid translation of the column: I think it would be nice to make this an official feature, to show grid names vertically.
With the new 2019.1 release of the Software Factory, the Theme settings for tabs in the form has been renamed to 'Table' even though we still use 'Tabs' under the General settings. Shouldn't we use an uniform verb for this?
We would like to add a possibility to be able to read the pre-filter setting (on/off) for the prefilters from the templates and would like to be able to set the prefilters on and of from the templates. With this possibility you're able to write a filter setting in a record with a task and you can directly turn the filter on or off depening on the task you run.
There are already task under "Subject" to renumber the columns in the Grid, on the Form or in a Card list. But as far as I know there is no such task to renumber the columns in a table. When, for example, importing a table from another table leaving out some of the original tables, gaps in the column numbering are introduced. Also when adding columns and one wants to place them between a few other columns to keep things in a logical order, this is possible, but after various alterations you'll run out of free numbers to instert. So why not add a taks to resequence colums as well? To keep things neat, after all.
When in subjects, it's possible to create a cube. In the task that pops-up I need to select the table or view where I'd like to create a cube upon. Since I'm already in the table/view, I'd like it to be filled automatically in the task. Also, the task says 'Table', but a view is also possible. Perhaps 'Subject' would be a better translation.
When using detail tiles in your screentype, you are not able to setup the orientation. The default orientation is Vertical but sometime you want it to scroll Horizontal. For example when showing the tiles under you form, where you have more horizontal space then vertical space.
In a discussion at the customer it came up that their current software supports opening menu items by selecting a function key (like F2 opens the Search engine). Looking at the Software Factory, I don't see an option to do so. There is an option to assign shortkeys to Tasks but it's not possible to assign them to Menu items. Could this idea be implemented?
When a field is defined as datetime, the GUI expects a time when a user wants to filter on a date. This is logical from an applation point of view, but not from a users point of view. I.m.h.o. when a user filters on a datetime field, the GUI should use a "BETWEEN" sql statement and not an "=' (equal) statement. Lets take the example below. A users selects "Filter" and enters just a date (and leaves the time part of the datetime field empty). I would like the GUI to select the 3 rows with the date the user is looking for. If for one reason a user want to look for a row equal to the thousands of a second, than just enter the time as well.. In a similar manner the filter "Between" could work. If a users enters a from date of 01-01-2019 and a to date of 01-02-2019, leaving both time parts of the field empty, the GUI should filter for rows containing a datetime of "2019-01-01 00:00:00.000000" and "2019-01-02 23:59:59.999999" (depending on the precision of timestamps in the database used by the application).
The subform 'Available templates' ordered by order number and the column order_no made visible would be helpful.
It would be nice to fill in different priorities for the requirements in the SF. Currently you can select this release, next release or future release. But it does not give you the opportunity to select which release you would like the requirement to be added to the application. This makes it possible to do release planning using the requirements for projectmanagement and could be very usefull creating sprints.
Currently when setting up a table, a variant is used to define an exception as display method of a specific table. The main set up is used by default and only when you would like to use a different display method, you set up a variant. This approach often leads to issues with the use of prefilters. For example a specific prefilter is set to disabled and hidden on the default display method. However this prefilter should be enabled and visible on the variant. This is not possible. The same issue surfaces with hiding columns on the default display, but enabling them on the variant. The solution is a default variant. This variant is created upon creation of a table. This is also the default display method of the table. It is not possible to display a table without a variant. By using this approved the issues, which I've described in the previous paragraph, will no longer be an issue. To reduce the workload whilst setting up these variants, the main settings (which're currently being used at the default display method) should still be accessible and be used as the default values for each variant.
At the moment we can see the number of actions performed in the IAM action analysis, but not times. It would be useful to also be able to see (average) lead times per action here in order to be able to compare these with guidelines regarding response times.
An Home button, which is visible in any form/context, to go back to the menu would be handy.
Sometimes images are stored in a binary column in the database. At this moment it seems not possible to view these images with the preview component. Main reason for using the preview component is because its responsive behavior.
Within our project we have encountered the problem that key-users in the analysis process do not always know what the key components of a process diagram mean. This is why we have created our own legend (see appendix, sorry that it's in Dutch) in the form of an user requirement in the SF, that contains a 'diagram' with all the key components that we use in our process diagram. Perhaps it would be nice if there would be one generic legend, in both Dutch and English, that explains all the key-components used in process diagrams within the SF, that can be used in every single project in communication with key-users who have to review the requirements and their corresponding process diagrams.
See screenshot below. The detail pane in the right bottom corner is only sporadically filled with information, depending on what is found in the form (if there is no record in the referenced table there is nothing to show. The marked pane is a FORM only screen). It would be great if somehow in the right top tabbed pane something like mimimum height (lets say 50%) could be defined in the screentype and a maximum height or 100% would automatically be used when there is nothing to show in the right bottom. Or something like autosize... Just an idea.
Regarding the cube fields of a screen type. It would be nice to have an option to preset the following settings for a Cube within TSF; stacked, next to eachother, only hidden labels, only visible labels (four by one), only visible labels (two by two) so that the user will have these settings applied directly after opening a certain screen which contains a cube. Would like to see this feature within the following screen;
For some of the fields in the application I work on it would be nice if I could use the best of both worlds ('Suggestion contains' and 'Combo'). So I want to be able to select a value from a Combo list but also be able to enter a string into the field which is contained in one or more of the items listed in the Look-up. Example: Field with look-up to city names: Amsterdam, Den Bosch, Groningen, Enschede, Apeldoorn and Utrecht. Then I can use the drop-down / Combo to select one of the cities. But I also would be able to put in 'sch' and find Den Bosch and Enschede and select one of them.
When compiling an object within the Software Factory, only an error message is shown (I'm talking about a DB2 project), indicating an error exists somewhere in de code. But the developer won't have a clue where to look for the error. First the code has to be copied to a SQL client and try the whole lot again to figure out on what line something is wrong. It would be helpfull if, like in the example below, the SF would mark the (first) found error, like in IBM's sql client below.
My team and I want to use the testcase recorder more. However, there is one problem we have encountered: it is not possible to change tables in one test case. This limits us to recording very small steps of a single process. When we want to create a case for an entire demo scenario, this takes a lot of time. Would it be possible to include the changing of tables as an separate 'Test step'?
