Temporal table "for system time" makes task very slow

For a certain task it’s required to query a system-versioned aka temporal table at a certain point in the past. Let’s call this table temporal_table for simplicity.Here’s an example query:select v.*from temporal_table for system_time as of '2021-2-27 14:59:46' vIn SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) this runs in about 2 seconds for this particular table. Using this in a lengthy select statement with a bunch of joins also runs rather fast in SSMS as it takes about 10 seconds to finish.The problem happens when this code is used in a task in our end product. As soon as the for system_time flag is used in the SQL code the task goes from running 10 seconds to what’s basically forever. This is the same code used in SSMS, with the exact same datetime for testing purposes. (This date will be replaced by a parameter in a later stage as it needs to be dynamic.)I’ve tried to get around the issue with this alternative query:select v.*from temporal_table for system_time all vwhere '2021-2-27 1

Correct environment variable for user's documents folder in all situations

Our users are logged in through various methods. Some have managed systems, others log in via RDP. Sometimes a user has their files synced with Onedrive, others have a profile folder on a shared drive via redirection. This leads to reports with export to pdf setting being saved in various locations.For a process flow we were able to program one of these file paths by putting a username variable as part of the path but this renders the flow unusable for quite a few of our users. The flow uses a move file action but it often can't find the exported pdf file. Therefor we need a more generic approach.What folder does the export to pdf option use internally to determine where to save a file? I've tried %USERPROFILE%\Documents but already in my own case this leads me to the wrong folder.

skip validation in IAM by default

Is it possible to skip validation in IAM by default when synchronizing a model? We still have to solve several validation messages from older development which we simply didn't have the time for yet. Also since we do validation checks in SF of current development we don't really need it in IAM as well.

Run Indicium on Linux

Does Indicium run well in a Linux environment? I haven't tried Mono yet but apparently it is capable of running .net core applications. Is the current version of Indicium ready for it?

Devexpress report stays empty

In the software factory I defined a report with two parameters. These parameters also exist in the Devexpress file uploaded to this report. After running the report in the Windows GUI the debug info clearly shows the report was fed with the correct parameter values. However apart from the static headers that exist in the design the resulting file remains empty. No data is retrieved from SQL Server. I’ve tried both PDF and XLSX as output with very similar result.When I open the file in Devexpress from the cache folder as mentioned in the debug info and then enter the same parameter values there the report does work. This suggests the GUI does not communicate the parameter values to the report.I haven’t seen a form or task to link a specific parameter in SF to its counterpart in the report file so I assume parameters in SF need to have the same name as those in the report file. Is that correct? If so what could I do to make the GUI produce a complete report?

Allow column sort by order in lookup tableCompleted

Current situation We have quite a few tables with sizes such as XS, S, M, L, XL etc. We now use a hidden sort column to sort these from smallest to largest size. When we want to apply this sort order in a new table we add the same hidden sort column by means of an expression so we can apply the same trick as in the lookup table. Issue This is somewhat cumbersome however and it also makes it impossible for users to do this manually since clicking on the header of the size column sorts these sizes alphabetically instead. Proposed solution I would like to see an option that when a user clicks on the column header the sizes are sorted according to the default sort option of the lookup table. This is quite similar to the default sort in a combo drop-down but instead applies to the column in a grid. I can imagine a drop-down in lookup options that allows to switch the grid sorting between "alphabetical" and "lookup table".

HTTP connector output issue (I think)

I am trying to connect with a 3rd party API (Visma API based on Swagger) and for some reason I can't seem to get an output from the HTTP connector. For testing purposes I insert the connector output into a text file but the file remains empty. This is the debug error message in the application after triggering the process flow: code:Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: A. Path '', line 0, position 0. This suggests the connector output is empty which would explain why the file remains empty. If my assumption is correct then I don't understand why this happens. I have created the correct API call in the Insomnia application first and I get the expected json result: (Don't worry about data sensitivity because the data comes from a test account.) All the API call needs is a URL and these 5 headers (including a token). In SF I've set the parameters as follows: With 5 headers as a single value containing 5 lines being: code:Accept: application/jsonAccept-

Devexpress report perfomance in Windows GUI

Reports developed in Devexpress tend to run rather slow in the Windows GUI. Even when Devexpress itself generates a report within a second it can still take over 10 seconds for the GUI to do the same thing with the same report parameters. I’ve seen this happen in several occasions. Now it’s an issue because for a new module for our warehouse printing a specific report is rather time critical. A delayed print tends to interrupt the workflow too much.The desired behavior would be to have a printout of a report within a couple seconds instead of the current 10-15 seconds. A workaround for now is to make it possible to set the print command in motion earlier in the process but that is not a solution in all situations. It also makes the chances of human error a bit larger.Is there a way to find out why reports perform slow in the Windows GUI?

Multi row radio buttonsClosed

The idea is to have a column in a table with radio buttons that allow only one row within the entire column to be checked. For example for our webshop maintenance we have a table with employment types for which one is checked as the default for a certain customer. Tasks use this info to pre-fill the employment type in their forms. Having radio buttons instead of check marks would make it impossible to accidentally check more than 1 row. Of course the application needs to do this based on the rows in view and not entire table because in this example the table holds the employment types of all customers.

Control procedure parameter - default value

First I created a control procedure with a parameter. Then I filled in a default value for the parameter in the task parameter tab. However the produced SQL code that actually creates the procedure does not set this default value on the database. Is this the correct behavior? The generated code in the software factory includes this part: code:create procedure task_procedure_name( @from_date date)asbegin However I would expect something like this: code:create procedure task_procedure_name( @from_date date = '1970-01-01')asbegin My goal is to create a procedure which includes a parameter with a default value which I can override if necessary when calling the procedure using the execute command. Can this be accomplished?

SVG icons missing color

Thinkwise documentation recommends using SVG icons because of their scalability. Once I read this I immediately switched to the SVG format and our application is now full of them. They indeed render great and are also very easy to customize with tools such as Inkscape. The readability of the format also makes it a great candidate for scripting leading to more dynamic icons instead of just static ones. SVG seems the way to go for any gui. The problem though is that, for us at least, they often don't render well in the web application. They do appear and every button with an SVG icon works so there are no functionality issues. However they often miss color and appear in shades of grey. Here's an example: The icons in the Windows application are at the top and the same icons through the web interface are at the bottom. It gets stranger than that. Sometimes some of the SVG icons in the browser do have full color and this seems to occur quite randomly. We tested in Chrome, Firefox and

Suite upgrade instructions

We would like to upgrade our Thinkwise suite from version 2017.1 to the latest 2018.3. I've got all the upgrade files ready. Our database names are of the following structure: -APPLICATION_SF_ONT (SF database) -APPLICATION_IAM_ONT (SF end product) -APPLICATION_IAM_PROD (IAM and end product in production) -COMPANY_DATA (company data model for live end product) After ignoring the files for older suites there are 3 large upgrade scripts to be applied to the SF_ONT database. I've tested these on a copy of that database and all upgrades run without issues. After that the process becomes unclear for me however. [QUESTION 1] Do I also apply the files 030_checks.sql, 040_constraints etc to the SF_ONT database? If not, what do I do with these files? [QUESTION 2] After completing the upgrade on a copy of the SF_ONT database (for testing purposes) I would like to run the new SF version off of it. How do I switch to a different SF database so I can actually test if it's running fi

Emtpy list in GUI via Indicium Basic

The Windows GUI produces empty lists in some screens when querying the database via Indicium Basic. In one of these cases the view being queried loads quite some time and then throws a 502 error (verified in Firefox). In another one loading is quick but the server gives a blank answer. In both cases the GUI translates this into an empty list. Both cases are views. Here’s a URL as an example:http://servername/indicium_windows/iam/184/vw_webshop_xml_07_persons?$filter=((bedrijf_nummer%20eq%201)%20and%20(klant_groep_nummer%20eq%2016))I don't see anything particularly weird about this URL.Any ideas what could be the cause?When connecting directly with SQL Server the GUI works fine. Prefilter on table variant

The knowledge base states that it's possible to put a prefilter on a table variant. I have a base table without any prefilters. I've then created a table variant but I don't have a task in SF to actually enable the prefilter config tab. The only tabs I can create are sort, filter and search. Then how are prefilters added to table variants?

Editing issues in formlist

Issues When using a formlist it's not possible to have form buttons such as edit and save. The alternative is to make the form editable by default and to enable form auto-save. This gets us a workable solution. This brings up another issue though. Radio buttons in the form are greyed out and only become editable when clicking another field of the same table row first. The reason for radio buttons is to prevent drop-downs to minimize mouse clicks. Request I would like to see formlists tweaked by the developers so that they behave somewhat more like a normal form, including buttons that can be relevant for formlists (such as edit, save and cancel). And ideally radio buttons in formlists are clickable immediately. Note Maybe this should have been an idea rather than a question. 😉

Input screen similar to spreadsheet

We are trying to design a new screen for data input with a grid similar to a spreadsheet. Let me try to picture our situation. Our products are garments in all kinds of sizes which could be XXS to XXL, 44 to 64, etc. Several size systems are at play here and every kind of garment has its own system as well as size range. Our design team needs an easy input screen with spreadsheet like layout. Per type of garment and per size there are several measurements to be made. Think of something like this for trousers: 44 46 48 50 52 54 56 58 60 62 64Waist . . . . . . . . . . .Inseam . . . . . . . . . . .Length . . . . . . . . . . .Pocket . . . . . . . . . . .The left column contains the measurement types. After saving always select correct record with incremental id that is not an identity

Let's say we have an order table containing orders numbered 1, 2, 3 etc. This order number is in the column ‘id’ which is the primary key of the table. These numbers are always integers but they are not an identity. When adding an order to the table a bit of logic needs to determine the next available number. In principle this can be done with max(id) + 1. This works fine in the Windows GUI by putting this logic in a default procedure. It stops working however when an order with the same id is added by someone or something else simultaneously.Say the highest order id is 10. Then I start creating a new order in the GUI which by the aforementioned logic gets order id 11.In the mean time another process inserts order 11 into the table. Then when I click the save button the GUI tries to save the new order with id 11 which is not available anymore and an error message follows.I've tried to get around this by using an insert handler with the same max(id) + 1 logic. This eliminates the error

3rd party access and data security

We plan to develop a new part in our application that we want to deploy as a portal for a selection of our suppliers. Our goal is to have fewer phone calls and less email traffic by allowing suppliers to check our supplier orders in our own database and to easily create packing lists from those orders inside our application through an interface we have yet to design. To accomplish this we will have to open up part of our data model to a new supplier role in IAM. How can we ensure that every supplier gets to see only their data and not that of others? I assume this can be accomplished with hidden pre-filters but perhaps there is a better way. Is there a best practice concerning portals in general and data security?

web has no access to the application definition

Because we want to serve our web application and Indicium under separate subdomains I changed our IIS setup. Both applications are now in separate document roots that are added to IIS as separate websites. Each site now has its own bindings (domain and port number). The login page of the web application works. However I now get the following error after every login attempt: There is currently no access to the application definition using the configured settings. Please contact your application manager. This happens both with Windows domain user accounts and SQL Server accounts. I don't understand the reason for this error. The ini file hasn't been changed and still contains the right settings for the database server and the database name. Users have write access to the web folder. I followed the deployment guidelines. What could be the cause of this error? It has worked before this change to a multi site setup.

add row in grid

Is is possible to show the add row in a grid at the bottom of the list instead of at the top?

Form alignmentOpen

Form fields always align to the left and there is no option in SF to change this behavior. Alignment in a domain doesn't affect form fields. In some cases we would like to align form fields to the right, specifically in forms where we only display decimal numbers. It would simply look a lot better if the decimals are stacked right on top of eachother. Example: code: 123,00 1.234,00 12.345,00123.456,00 123,00 Current situation: code:123,001.234,0012.345,00123.456,00123,00 As you can see the addition of a thousands separator can potentially confuse the end-user even more. Therefor I would like to suggest an alignment option for forms, possibly with an "apply grid alignment" option in subjects > settings > form.

Sorted combo not working (still alphabetical)

We just upgraded to version 2019.1 and I immediately tested the new sorted combo in one of our tables. However it doesn't work and despite setting the lookup as 'sorted' the drop-down still appears alphabetical. I followed these steps: First I set a default sort on the lookup table: This table holds sizes with an ID and a description where the sizes are sorted by a sorting column called "weergave_volgorde", for example to show sizes in the order of S, M and L (with corresponding order values of 1, 2 and 3). This sorting column is part of the default sort. I also tried sorting on this column alone with the same result. Then I set the following lookup: Where vw_maat is the lookup table in the previous image. As you can see I set the look-up control to a sorted combo. However the end result still appears alphabetical: EES should be at the top of the list because this is how it sorts in the lookup table by default whereas 9EL should be at the bottom. Run process flows automatically

For a new project we are going to access a third party application through its API system and I am getting familiar with the HTTP connector in process flows. As far as I understand process flows are only ever initiated by users and cannot be run automatically because they live entirely inside the application. They are not stored procedures on the database and thus cannot be scheduled within the database server (SQL Server in our case). Do correct me if I'm wrong here. I browsed through the IAM production database quickly but I didn't find the process flows there. Where are they stored and is it possible to run them on SQL Server directly? If not then we might have to build procedures with API calls in sql instead. Is that generally advisable or is using certain middleware perhaps a better approach? One of the reasons we have to be able to automate certain API calls is because they will fill certain tables for local analysis that is not possible or desirable with the remote applic

Barcode input

I am building a screen in which a barcode can be pasted and entered with a barcode scanner. For this purpose I’ve created a view with only its form visible and in it only a barcode field. This field should be editable multiple times without having to click any GUI buttons. According to the view itself these are updates of the barcode field. Behind the view is an instead of update trigger that adds the new data to a table. This works. As soon as a barcode is typed into the field and ctrl+enter’d a new row is added to the table.The problem is the form isn’t editable immediately despite having auto-edit enabled in its subject settings. I need to click in another tab in the gui and then return to the view to have its form editable. This seems to be the standard behavior of auto-edit in tables too.I’ve done some testing with combinations in a process flow to make the form editable without needing any user input between barcode updates but so far I’ve been unsuccessful to make this work. Grid row height grid vs formlist field height

I am attempting to set a grid and a formlist side by side in such a way that the lines and fields of both line up perfectly. I set a grid row height of 34 pixels and a formlist field height of 33 pixels. This makes the rows of both appear equal in height. However the formlist is shifted downward somewhat. I have already attempted to tweak both field height and height between fields in the form settings but that doesn't produce the result I am after. Is there another option I can try?
