I noticed when I was trying to add a missing reference on one of the tables I'm working on. I use the 'Create reference' task at Subjects > [Table] > Links > Look-ups. Trying to add a reference and then noticed the target table isn't given automatically, even though I'm trying to create the reference while being inside the target table. (Using SF 2019.1) I would like a link be made between the task and the subject/target table I'm coming from
I would like to see the Query input field widened. Currently is hard to see what the query is without opening it. Especially when looking through multiple expression fields it would be great if I didn’t have to open every single one to see the query. Too smallMy suggestion would be to put Calculated field on it's own tab page, then making the field as wide as two groups together, so probably the Field width would be 660. Then also changing the height to 8 or so. For example: Much more space and better insights into the query
It would be nice if we could start a process flow on scheduled times, using the SQL Job Agent. At this moment an external call for a task with an attached process flow will not trigger the process flow.
I noticed there isn't a (complete) list of reserved keywords as a validation. A customer of mine had a upgrade go wrong because there was a domain with the name 'boolean’. Ofcourse that's not a good name, but the Software Factory didn't tell him in the validation, but only when the upgrade script went wrong. I suggest that the list is expanded and depending on the selected RDBMS available as a validation.
Currently within the Tasks and Reports items a user has the option to quick add a reference (and lookup) by using the task "Create lookup-reference". This is a good and quick way to set up an additional (parameter) with a lookup. I was wondering why such an option hasn't been added to the "column add screens" within the datamodel modeller. This could really save me a lot of time, when setting up tables that included columns with a lookup reference. Instead of having to go through all the steps: open the design tab, enable both tables and manually draw a reference between both tables, I could simply just run this task. It will automatically add my required columns and set up the reference with the preferred lookup.
Files used by an application, say images, reports etc., are store in a specific folder. In most cases the location of this folder is different for the development environment then it is for the production environment. IAM provides a task the update all the file links within a project version. This is a useful feature. However I would like this feature the store the altering made to the path (difference between development and production). Currently you have to update this path each time you synch a version, whether this is a new or already existing version. In my opinion this is redundant. IAM should be able to store the altering made within the path to set it the right path used in the production environment. Therefor automatically update the path upon synchronizing the next time.
I would like to see the added/active functionality of a subject, added in the menu item ‘Subjects’, to see what scripts are active for this subject.
For example, in SF the tab 'Table task parameters' should be disabled or hidden, as long as no 'Table task' record exists. I know, that in end user applications this can be achieved with a context procedure, but I believe this is generic logic.
When I copy an existing application to a new one I have to select a new project version. Upon opening the combo box I see that the project versions are ordered oldest to newest. I do think it would be better to order it from newest to oldest. So in my case, 1.16 would be on the top and 1.08 on the bottom. Ordered old project vrs to new project vrs
A new Thinkwise developer was creating his first project, using the e-learning. After deploying his datamodel and making a few changes in the User interface he wanted to create a new project version. Sadly here it went wrong. He used the Task ‘Create project version’ instead of ‘Copy project version’, expecting it to create a new version of his project. After a while he found out that all his work was gone and didn't knew what caused it. Maybe we should rename the task or make it a bit more clear that it is used for creating a new empty project version. This is not something you are not going to do many times, during development. Any suggestions?
When you request something from indicium (ie a table or subroutine) and a column is empty, then indicium will not send the column with the respond. It would be nice if there is a setting per request if you want the empty columns to be sent or to be hidden.
I would like to be able to change the color of the progressbar. Currently it's always Thinkwise-blue, but when designing a custom splash screen for a customer this blue isn't always the best option. Being able to adjust this color from within the IAM would be a nice improvement!
I would like to be able to indicate which tables should be kept in memory in order to improve the performance.
I would like to have the ability to tell the model to hide or disable a task when you do not have a row selected. Now when you create a task that needs variables/values from a table you need to write a context to hide/disable the task when you do not have a row selected. This happens when you start with a empty table for example. It will save time to just have to tell the model to disable/hide the task when you do not have a row selected. In some instances you do want to be able to open the task (for example to create a record), but most tasks are related to the tab task parameters you enter.
For those of you who don't know, there is a feature in the SF that automatically highlights columns that might contain privacy sensitive data. This works based on lists of words that it checks for in the column name. For every field in the database there is the option to decide whether it contains sensitive data or not, but especially for these suspicious fields it is recommended to make the decision to automatically anonimize the data or not. However, the validation that brings this to the attention of the user, is called “Suggested columns with undecided sensitivity”. I would like to change the wording of this to “Columns with potentially privacy sensitive data have not been reviewed”. Although I am not a native speaker I think this makes more sense to the user, but more importantly it increases awareness for AVG/GDPR compliancy. Thanks for voting if you do.Mark
To get a good visual structure in the requirements and to increase maintainability it is necessary to be able to nest FR's. When describing a functional requirement about for example a new attribute in the logical datamodel, it is often the case that there are other requirements that are directly linked. For example: when creating a relation input in attribute X is mandatory. By nesting these requirements the maintainability increases, because if the attribute is not needed, by deleting the main functional requirement the nested requirements are deleted also. The same in copying requirements, nested requirements are copied also.
I would like to be able to open a tile item as a pop-up screen with a single click. For now, I have to click it, drag it out of the tab bar to a desirable place and then press full-screen. For context: The tile menu has a tile item which opens the Search Engine. With this engine, the user is able to search up products and more. Then by using drag-and-drop, the user can drag the product to his shopping cart to add it. In this example it is always desirable that the search engine has been opened as a pop-up screen so the user can drag product from one place to the other. As a developer, I would like to be able to configure this in the Software Factory. As an user, I would like to be able to open any tile item as pop-up screen by right-clicking the tile item and then selecting 'Open as pop-up'. Edit: It's possible to open a tile item as pop-up screen by holding the ALT key while clicking the item. However, this is not common knowledge among users. Edit 2: Maybe Floating screen is a better name to use
In the project I'm working on we have a search engine to search for products and other resources. By using drag-and-drop we can drag it from the search engine to the desired place which can be at many places inside our application. It would be convenient if I can open the search engine (as pop-up screen) with the right click menu and assign a short-key to it. That way I can open the desired screen easily. Something like:
For those who use Design specifications in the SF (2018.3), for each specification line one or more notes can be added. I'd like to see them notes merged in the "Specification text" form like shown below. Print the notes in a different color and/or font to see the difference between a specification line and notes made on that particular line. Perhaps also the posibility to show or not show the notes (checkbox). Finally, why not using the full width of the form?
Because of Universal we use SVG icons for the entire application. Universal changes the color of the icon for the dark theme. But it only changes the color if the SVG itself doesn't have a color, which makes sense. If I don't use a color, the Windows and Web GUI's interpret it as black. But in the Windows and Web GUI I never want to use a black icon. I'd like to be able to set a color for the SVG icon in the theme, but perhaps also per icon. In that way, I can easily change colors without replacing all my SVG icons. I understand you can have an SVG icon with multiple colors, I don't have a solution in mind for those yet. Maybe you can think with me. But now I have to create variants of subjects merely for the icons, and that doesn't feel right.
