Make grouped grid appearance universal the same as win/web

Related products:Universal GUI

The grouped grid appearance in universal currently differs from windows/web. Grouped columns are treated as regular grid-columns, which creates an indentation in the rows under this grouped columns.

It would be nice if universal appears the same as Windows and Web in this case.

First step would be a research to see if the current component used in the Universal GUI is able to replicate the look of the Windows GUI.

There are a couple of TCP tickets for this issue too. Know that we have it on the radar and intend to resolve it in the near future. It requires an upgrade to the used AgGrid component first.

@Freddy This improvement is currently being reviewed and tested internally. If no major problems are found, we expect to release this the 1st of September.

@Arie V will this also be applied to the cube grids?

@Freddy This isn't applied to the Pivot Grid at the moment.

In fact, with this upgrade we deliberately implemented the groupHideOpenParents for Pivot Grids to support showing a Pivot grid with a lot less rows (see the Side-by-side comparison in the Release Notes), which works in case ‘Row totals’ is not checked. We anticipate this is a more important feature, which wouldn't work in combination with the way we have implemented the Row Display Type for regular Grids.

How does that work out for your Pivot Grids?

@Arie V  I do see benefits for that option. However in this particular case I want to see the group sub totals and am looking for a similar experience where the element below a group are shifted to the left, like in the grid now. Is this something that is on the radar? Besides that I search to save space horizontally, less vertically..

@Freddy We currently have nothing planned on changing this behavior, but I can see there’s benefit in having that option on Pivot Grids too indeed. Another thing I’m noticing is that we currently have Auto-sizing of Category columns based on the data in the field, which could also cause quite some horizontal screen space to be covered already. I am curious to know how you feel about that and whether it should listen to the Grid width setting instead?

Would you be so kind to raise a TCP ticket in which you share screenshots of a Pivot Grid for which you’d like to see different behavior?
