Currently there is no way to know (from the designer) if a menu item is a table/task or report.

See image below where i added a task. Please add some kind of visual indicator if a menu item is a table, report or task.

@Erwin Ekkel Makes me wonder: if you want this as Developer in the SF, do you think we should do something similar for Users in the UI to clarify whether something is a Task or Subject?

Yes, I as a developer/support engineer would very much like to see this in the end application as well. So an indicator in the universal gui would be welcome as well. But that’s something that the UI/UX team should contemplate since this also impacts the end users and not just the developers. Maybe this should be a setting in IAM where only developers see an indicator. Since I’m not sure about the added value for end users.

The Menu in the Software Factory does show icons, but these are the icons of the objects itself:

Default menu of the Software Factory

Still requires the developer to remember which item is a table, task or report indeed.

Hi @Erwin Ekkel,

Considering Mark’s latest feedback, would you have any suggestions on how we could approach this? I can imagine that adding two icons per menu item might clutter the screen, so I’m looking for some inspiration on possible alternatives.

@Jeroen van den Belt We could add a colour, underline or maybe a mini icon (lightning bolt/gear).  But choosing the wrong visualization could quickly become a mess, so I think this would be an excellent topic to present to the UI/UX team.

Looking at the SF screens it seems there's more than enough space to add text. Maybe go for a relatively simple and fast solution and simply show a prefix or suffix in the Tree? Taking the example of Erwin, that could be something like:

  • Customer (Table)
  • t (Task)

Per Arie’s suggestion, this would be the result:

would work for me
