User preference for "open_documents" menu

Universal 1.3 - “Open_documents” is growing and growing and after x hours my main menu is not visible without scrolling ;-) 

It would be nice to have a user preference to maximize number of menu options to show like a “Top 5” Additional options like “Most used”, “Latest”, “My custom” or “Pin” and even an option “Don’t show” makes it complete.
