Tried to create a indexed view using snaphot and template .

  • defined snaphot
  • added columns
  • tried ‘meta costum’  , ‘meta  auto’ to see if i can generate the view  but get error ( gPROVIDED_OBJECT_NOT_A_VIEW]  )
  • tried ‘template’
  • But cant find a code group containing the program object to create the snapshot. (its not under view )

found What are 'Snapshot' views and how to use them? | Thinkwise Community (thinkwisesoftware.com)

from 4 years ago saying :

For Oracle and DB2 we have been supporting snapshots for quite some time, but for SQL Server we haven't come to develop it yet.

Is it in the planning to be developped  for  sql sever ?

If not :

Coold it  be included in the documentation that sql server is not supported

and maybe the option turned off for sql server

Hi Marco,

It is certainly not planned as we have not seen an Idea for this here on the Community. Over in my old topic I do notice Allard saying the addition of Snapshots would be welcome, so I suggest creating an Idea for this.

Snapshots (indexed views) does require us to look into it thoroughly to make sure most of possibly even all requirements are covered by default. The Body of these kinds of views would of course be written by developers, but the header and footer of the view has to be supplied by the Software Factory.
