outlook msg files preview issues "Couldn't find a compatible Webview2 Runtime installation to host WebViews"

Hi,

Since our upgrade from 2021 to 2023 we get complaints from users that they get errors when selecting an Outlook message in our attachments table:
 

The TW debugger is a bit more specific with “Couldn't find a compatible Webview2 Runtime installation to host WebViews”

 

I've found this topic:

But the user can preview an msg file in file explorer so that bit is working properly.
Only in TW the msg preview failes.
Other files such as pdf work without any issues.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Maybe you can try upgrading to either 2022.1.13 or the latest version of the Windows GUI. Hope that solves it😄

    Hi Alban,

    In the release notes of version 2022.1.13, the new web browser component for previewing was added and has to be installed. Probably this component is not installed on your device, could that be true?

    It is strange that the GUI does not show you an install prompt. Which Windows GUI version are you using?

    Hi Mark,

     

    We are using 2022.1.12 😇
    On another PC it is working correctly.
