Hello,

we've just installed the new universal gui 2023.2.12 b1.0, where detail tab pages show icons. We see the icons on almost half of the detail tab pages, but we have no idea why they aren't shown on other detail tab pages.

So far i've ruled out the following:

It happens for both tables and views.

It happens for both tables and variants.

In the above image, both ‘Dienstverband’ as ‘Acties - beheer’ use the same detail screen type.

All details in the image have icons configured on the subject/view/variant.

any idea why icons are missing for some detail tabs?

We’re also experiencing this problem 🤔

Hi Bram,

Can you verify that the GUI is trying to load these icons via the Network tab in the Developer tools (F12)?

We just tried reuploading the image for ‘Medewerker kerstpakket’, which made the icon appear. However, when i add ‘Dienstverband’ to the menu, it does display the icon, but it does not show the icon in the tab page still.

For the Network tab: It does show that the icon for ‘Medewerker kerstpakket’ is retrieved and displays the icon in the developer tools Preview tab. For the icon for ‘Dienstverband', the icon is also loaded and previewed in developer tools.

So while reuploading icons works, uploading all icons is not really a viable option. Futherless, it does not really explain why the icon can be shown in the menu, but not at the tab page...

Any update on why icons are not always shown and how we can fix this?

@Peter Verwijs , do you have a suggestion?

The icons are a bit inconsistent and not complete:

  • In the menu some icons are not shown, whilst if you activate it, the icon is shown at open documents.
  • Also it appears the icons only show for details, not tab-pages or the own subject.

    • The first in the vertical tabs is the form…  the second a fixed container in the screen-component.

    • Also, the icons in the submenu appear to be shown larger than the icon of the parent.

I guess it needs some finetuning still.

Does anyone have any idea?

Hi Bram,

We have received a ticket about this issue and our Universal team is working on it. The exact cause is unknown for now. If you are able to provide the icon(s) that is/are not working properly, that would be great input for the research.

@Mark Jongeling Could the issue as mentioned in this other topic be the cause for this issue too?

It could well be, I have passed it on to the team to look further into

@Mark Jongeling @Peter Verwijs I appreciate that the ExtendedProperty to show/hide Detail tab icons has been released with Universal GUI 2023.3.10!

However, I am very frustrated that this inconsistent behavior issue hasn't been resolved with the just-released version! I may hope that your Universal team understands that especially the inconsistent behavior mentioned by @Freddy and us (in TCP 7741S) regarding the List bar items is essentially a serious UX-related regression issue introduced in the latest Universal GUI versions. We do want to go to PROD with the latest Universal GUI version soon, but need this issue to be resolved first.

To help your team out, I have identified the cause of the issue:

  • If the .svg icon does not have height & width values → the icon is not shown as List bar item
<svg
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"
viewBox="0 0 512 512">
<path d="M320 336c0 8.84-7.16 16-16 16h-96c-8.84 0-16-7.16-16-16v-48H0v144c0 25.6 22.4 48 48 48h416c25.6 0 48-22.4 48-48V288H320v48zm144-208h-80V80c0-25.6-22.4-48-48-48H176c-25.6 0-48 22.4-48 48v48H48c-25.6 0-48 22.4-48 48v80h512v-80c0-25.6-22.4-48-48-48zm-144 0H192V96h128v32z"/>
</svg>
  • If the .svg icon does have height & width values → the icon is shown as List bar item

<svg
height="512"
viewBox="0 0 512 512"
width="512"
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg">
<path d="M320 336c0 8.84-7.16 16-16 16h-96c-8.84 0-16-7.16-16-16v-48H0v144c0 25.6 22.4 48 48 48h416c25.6 0 48-22.4 48-48V288H320v48zm144-208h-80V80c0-25.6-22.4-48-48-48H176c-25.6 0-48 22.4-48 48v48H48c-25.6 0-48 22.4-48 48v80h512v-80c0-25.6-22.4-48-48-48zm-144 0H192V96h128v32z"/>
</svg>

In return for this heavy lifting, may I kindly but urgently ask for a hotfix on the Universal GUI release?

@Mark Jongeling Could the issue as mentioned in this other topic be the cause for this issue too?

So yeah, my previous long post is basically confirming the conclusions @Christian Schmidtchen drew already 20 days ago…

I'll get in contact with the team to look at the issue. Hopefully we can find the root cause quick and solve this. Thanks for your research!

Hi all,

this has been solved in version 2023.3.10.2 which I've just released. The tree part was already solved in 2023.3.10.0.

Kind regards,

Tim de Lang
