It hasn’t gone unnoticed here either. I have tried VS Code using the MSSQL extension, but it just lacks features that I use daily. Such as the sp_help via a shortkey when selecting a table. It seems to be not possible.
Currently I'm running the SSMS 21 Preview (with Dark mode
). Currently it does not support Github Copilot for example, but for the time being I run with ADS and SSMS. Best of both worlds.
:-(
Sad news. I use VS Code for personal (Python)projects, but never tried it for MSSQL. Will see how it goes...
I'm still living onPremise which gives me the opportunity to run the Activity Monitor, see execution plans, run the profiler or record extended events and all that stuff. This is something I am missing in VS code's MSSQL extension. One could say that you don't need it for development. But for a lot of cases it sure helps a lot.
