Deeplinking is only possible in the Web GUI and on the backlog for Universal development.

Updated idea status NewOn the backlog

Deep linking is currently pretty high-up on the backlog, plans for implementation are being forged. It is worth noting that there are two forms of deep linking:

  • Process flow-based. These deep links are generally constructed by the developer using logic and can be shared via messages such as e-mails or via the UI directly to end-users.
  • Share-links. These deep-links are created by the user to try and have another user navigate to the same location in the GUI.

The process-flow based links are many times more powerful as they allow more than just navigation. Furthermore, these are often used to directly support primary processes within the applications. Because of this, we’ll focus on implementing this type of deep link first.

While share-links are not yet implemented, you can implement this using the process-flow approach for locations where this is most desired. A deep link process flow to navigate to a certain record at that location is required. You can allow the user to copy-paste a generate a deep-link in the GUI via a task that stores the generated deeplink in a parameter.

@Anne Buit In the latest Indicium Release Notes I read that Deeplinking in Process Flows is supported from Indicium 2021.3.16 onwards, once IAM 2022.1 is released. Does this also mean it will work with the Universal GUI from the moment IAM 2022.1 is released?

On the Universal Planning the Deeplink to process flow took a dive on the priority list lately, so I am a bit worried the answer to above question currently is ‘no’. If so, can you please align the Universal GUI planning to have it support Deeplink once IAM 2022.1 is released?

We really can't wait much longer for this feature, since users are pushing for Notifications (which are dumb without having a deeplink) and we'll be introducing Approval flows soon too.

@Arie V - For Indicium, deep linking consists of starting a parameterized process flow, accepting parameters that have been marked as available and/or mandatory for deep linking. This feature becomes available with Indicium with SF/IAM 2022.1. You can use this feature for certain types of integrations, calling the process flow API directly with parameters.

Deep links in the Universal GUI leverage this feature. However, as you point out, support for deep links in the Universal GUI is subject to prioritization. As the forecast stands, it is unlikely that deep links will be supported by the Universal GUI with the release of Thinkwise Platform 2022.1.

@Anne Buit is there any news on this subject like when it is expected to be available?

According to the Universal Forecast, it is planned for May 13th.

Thanks @Mark Jongeling

It would be awesome if the ideas here have a direct link to the forecast.
