This idea is based on the following question:

It would be great to be able to set an application-wide variable. In my case I’d like to show the relation the user has chosen in a menu task so that the user can always check in what context screens are opened. This means you should be able to set this variable per-user/session. See above question for more context.

The screenshot below shows a possible location to show such a variable:

In my original question I could think of a few other possible solutions on where to show a ‘global’ variable:

  • Set Breadcrumb everywhere to a fixed variable.
  • Be able to change the username using a variable.
  • Be able to change the task name using a (task)variable.
  • Or, not only for tasks, be able to assign functionality to a menu (item).

I’d also like to hear if others managed to come to a solution or workaround for this or other ideas of how this should work!

Great idea!! 👍🏻

We are looking for something similar for a while to always show a user (in every screen) in which administration within and company he is working.

We also want to be able to set and reset a global variable from the software.

The breadcrumb is currently the only, but not the most beautiful, alternative for us.

In a deeply layered model (like our ERP application) the breadcrump is error prone.

Hello, is there any news on this point? This is a very nice extension to visualize essential information for end users.

Hi, is there any news on this point?

It adds a lot of of value for end users. And we don't need to add (always limited) work arounds to our application.
