Currently after merging a branch back to the trunk the previous project of the new trunk version will be a snapshot version. However i have found no instance where this was the wanted result. Now after a merge I have to manually change the previous version of the project otherwise new columns will not be created.

Instead of the snapshot set previous version to the actual previous version of the trunk. This won't always be correct, but it will be sometimes correct whereas the snapshot seems to be always incorrect.

I totally agree, we'll add this to the backlog.

Sometimes correct, this seems dangerous as well. Why not ask the user for input?: 'What is the new previous project-version?' and have the default answer be the previous version of the trunk.
