As mentioned in this question:

As part of automating and speeding up the deployment generation, we’d like to start "Synchronization to IAM" autonomous (for use in a background "offline" proces) - this step in the deployment proces currently takes a about an hour to complete and the user has to be logged in and wait for it to complete to continue.

For the 2021.2 release, scheduled for April next year, we are going to optimize the Software Factory development environment for the Universal GUI. Part of this means we are migrating features that are currently executed by the (Windows) GUI to system flows in the Indicium service layer,  allowing them to be scheduled or started via the API as well.

In the SF 2021.3, (which has been released today!) several creation jobs are no longer executed by a client (the GUI) but instead by Indicium via the pool user. More info can be found here

In the following version, the SF 2022.1, we will also implement this behavior for synchronization to IAM.

Just like all other steps in Creation currently, from version 2022.1 the Synchronization to IAM and the Deployment package processes are no longer executed by a client (the GUI) but instead by Indicium via the pool user.

For Syncing to IAM, press the Task to either start syncing to a target IAM or write to disk:
