Sorting on Checkbox(bit) works differently than I expect

I have a list that I would like to sort on a Checkbox column (Datatype = Bit). If I Sort on this Checkbox column by selecting Sort in the Software Factory and give it the Sort order: Ascending, I would expect it to work like that the value 0 comes before the value 1. But what I noticed is that it works the other way round; Ascending works like the checked rows come before the unchecked rows and Descending works like the unchecked rows come before the checked rows. Has this been a conscious decision or does this indeed work the wrong way?

Performance when a user applies a sort order in the application

We have a large trade item table with 2.125.590 records. This table is visible in the application and uses a top 1000 limit (configured via the SF). A user is currently allowed to set a sorting order on 8 different columns. When a user applies a sort order on 1 column it takes up to 16 seconds for the application to show the sorted set. And Excel style filtering can't handle it all. Trying to place a filter via the Excel style filtering on a column header takes so long that I have to force close the application via the Windows Task Manager. What's the best practice for handling these performance issues? I could create a index for every possible sort column (8 in total). But what if a user wants to sort on multiple columns at once? Then the created index no longer covers the query.

Reset user specific sort order to default sort of subject when opening a screen

We have a table with more than 6 million 'trade item' records (and a top(1000) set via 'Subjects'). A user is allowed to change the sort order of the screen. Some sort orders will result in a freeze of the screen. The user can't reset the sort order to the default (from the TSF) because the screen won't open anymore. Even when closing and opening it again. We could disable sorting completely but we don't want that. The only way to resolve this is deleting the user preference from IAM. But this has to be done by the support department. It would be a nice addition if we can configure the sort order (made by a user) to reset when opening/closing a screen.

Go to first row when changing the sorting

When a user changes the sorting of a grid to a different column, it is usually because the users wants to find the rows with the highest or lowest value of the sorted column. When you have a grid with multiple pages in the Universal GUI, the current behaviour of the GUI leads to confusion/frustration because it automatically changes to the page the selected row is on after applying the sorting. Many times the selected row is somewhere halfway the page and thus the user scrolls up to find to the highest/lowest values of the sorting, but if the user didn't notice the pages changed it are not the actual first rows. Idea: When changing the sorting, select the first row of that sorting. Or at least make a config setting for this.
