During an upgrade of an application it is handy to have backups available, but once normal operation ensues, they are out of date. If it turns out that there is a critical problem a day after the upgrade, and a solution takes too much time, a roll back could be a preferable option. At the moment we tend to give roll back as an option for risk mitigation, but lacking tools it is a last option in case of data model changes. Restoring a backup would mean losing a day’s work, while a roll back would only lose data in the mismatch between the two data models. Is it a lot of trouble to generate a roll back script including reverse data migration in addition to the regular upgrade script?
To set a default font for the RTF control, are options available similar to those for HTML controls?Edit: the options given for fields with an HTML control were:[dbo].[sanitize_html] (function is available in the SF database only) replace () in default or trigger logic (cumbersome in the case of RTF)Crystal Reports is fed various RTF fields and curruntly for each line of text, four lines of hardcoded RTF formatting are applied in the SF.The code that fills those RTF fields in the application is revised so that more of it is applicable for a shared set of fields.I hope to get rid of all the RTF formatting in control procedures, as all text is formatted to a single font anyway. It just happens not to be Times New Roman, which is what the RTF control applies by default. How to change the default font of RTF controls in the 2019.1 suite?Â
The debug screen for the GUI has seen some improvements over the last few additions. Can I ask for more? Can the objects in the debug screen be turned into hyperlinks that deep link to a relevant section of the SF? I realize that for that to work as an hyperlink, the SF has to run via the web or perhaps the universal GUI. Would a helper program (such as AutoHotkey) make it possible with the current SF in the windows GUI?
Would it be an option to add little icons in the top bar of entities in the data modeller, like in my mock up below? The functions would be the same as in the context menu with the red question mark. My reasons for asking are twofold: It takes three clicks to switch one entity to another display mode, at least two more than I'd like; Often I find myself staring at the little screen and wondering what it was I had intended to click on arriving there: "Full view is already selected, primary key is displayed and only title is not what I was looking for. Now what?" The white X would of course replace the red one in the context menu, the maximize/restore button switches between full list or just keys, and the minimize button minimizes to title only. The upgrade button is reserved for future use. Edited by moderator to show image:
TL;DR: is there an extended property for user application authorization? My development environment and my user application database are seperated by a VPN and distinct active domains, with no username overlap. While developing, I am not running the user application via IAM but directly against the model in the SF. I have restricted access to the user application database, I have no say in the domain user names, or which to use. This precludes windows domain authentication when starting the user application. My work-around is to add an RDBMS-login to my SF database for a corresponding RDBMS-login on the other end. Is that the only way? I can not find an extended property that tells to give a second login pop-up or that allows to define a static user/password combination for the user application.
I have some difficulty putting a post on an internal timeline if it says "17 days ago" or "2 days ago". Is that newer or older than my question from the first week of February? Did someone answer this weekend after my post or was that last Friday before I posted? It would be nice to have a format like: "January 27, 17:53 (about two weeks ago)" Would that be possible?
When I have multiple functionality-tabs open, it would be helpful to have a popup of the selected CP name on mouse hover. More general, the name of the selected item could be shown for each tab.
