We have 2 users which have the WIN GUI installed locally and access the database via VPN.
Both users regularly experiences a hanging TW application. It just stops working for no reason.
This user has a new Windows laptop HP ENVY x360 14-fa0025nd – 2-in-1 14 inch.
On his ‘old’ laptop he doesn’t experience these application hangups.
The moment the application hangs is pretty random, but it’s always when you do a user action.
For example scrolling in a list, starting a task, or executing a task.
Then it locks. On a task execustion the SQL code is executed but the response is not coming back. We see the turning wheel for ever. We’ve had it open for hours.
Does someone experience issues like wise.

If it is thermal throttling, then you would need to identify what on the system is causing load as thermal throttling is a side effect of the machine working hard. The fact that you mentioning changing the energy settings is good as well, because that too could be the cause. If you can monitor the metrics to see if the maching is under strain then the cuase of that would need to be remedied. If its not due to load on the system but specifically Windows GUI that is giving problems, then we can investigate this further

Has the issues started the moment the switch was made to the new devices, or has some time gone by prior to the issue surfacing?
When did the issue start; if its related to a change within Windows GUI, then the timeline can help narrow it down to the possible cause, if any.
If this has been an issue since the start of the switch: have you ruled out common causes such as thermal throttling and/or missing drivers/updates, the latter being more common occurrence with laptops fresh out of the box. If you can rule out the hardware being the issue, it will help (I only ask because you mention the change of device, so it leads me to believe that you might have reason to believe that it could be a cause)

Nathan, it started with the new laptop. That was a clear moment.
I know our ICT coordinator already disabled some energy settings of the laptop.
I hope we don’t need to disable or change settings of thermal throttling to be able to work with the WIN GUI. At least I’ve never heard of it.
And I assume the laptop is regurarly update conform the microsoft process. But I will check that.

Nathan, we’ve checked the load and there is no excessive app running at the time the application stops. It’s just tsfNet.exe stops running.
It is not disappearing from the process list in the task manager. It just says that tsfnet.exe is not reacting.
Could it be a hickup in the VPN connection that tsfNET.exe stops running or set it in waiting mode?
