This should be possible. We also do something like this ourselves with new translations each platform release.

1. In the SF, navigate from the default menu to the advanced menu
2. Go to Model management > Translations
3. Set a filter to the desired model and branch
4. Make an export of this data
   1. Advanced options
   2. Export all rows in the grid
   3. Select all columns
   4. Choose a file destination. Both for Headers and Data, select the option to export the ID's. This will help you later on during the import.
   5. Export
5. In Excel, replace the value for the appl_lang_id column with the desired language code.
   1. In the Advanced menu, go to Master data > Model > Application languages to find the language code corresponding with your desired language.
6. In Excel, replace all transl-related columns with the translation of the desired language.
7. In the SF, navigate from the default menu to the advanced menu
8. Go to Model management > Translations
9. Import the Excel with the translated data
   1. Both for Headers and Data, keep the option to import the data based on the ID's intact.
   2. Ensure all columns from the Excel are mapped correctly to the columns in the SF.
   3. Determine the desired value for the column ‘Approval status’. You can choose to directly ‘Approve’ the translations, saving you from validations to do this afterwards. However, if you would like someone to review them from within the SF, fill them with ‘Not yet approved’.
   4. Import
