Images rotated after report export

Hi all,

I'm experiencing an issue with images in Thinkwise reports:

Photos taken in portrait mode are displayed correctly after upload in the app.
However, when a report is exported/downloaded, some images are rotated to landscape.

My suspicion is that this is related to the EXIF orientation metadata.

Has anyone encountered this before, and does anyone know of a solution or workaround for this behavior?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Max,

We’re running into the same issue in our projects. Very annoying!

Images taken in portrait mode look correct in the application, but once they’re stored temporarily in a database table and used in reports, most of them end up rotated.

One option we’re considering is calling an Azure Logic App from the application to process each image and physically rotate it based on its EXIF metadata or manually if EXIF data is missing. That way, the stored version is always in the correct orientation, regardless of how the reporting engine handles EXIF data.

If anyone has already implemented a workaround we’d be very interested to hear about it.

A built-in process flow action in Thinkwise to rotate images would be a great idea too.

Thanks for reporting this. Could you please create a ticket for this issue and include a brief description, the report definition, and an example image if possible? That will allow us to investigate this properly. Thanks!

@Harm Horstman that sounds like a good idea, could you please open an idea for this?
