Currently using SAP ECC 6.0 but om track to a new application build in the SF, we are looking for an alternative for the functionality of multiple selections per selection field. This default SAP functionality gives users the possibility to add multiple values and/or ranges to include or exclude to a specific selection field. Values and ranges can be entered by hand, imported from a text-file or uploaded from the clipboard. Descriptions in Dutch and English are added as attachments.

Suggestions are very welcome.

Hi Johan,

when filtering you have the ‘In’ operator, which allows you to select multiple values. Is this what you are looking for? Here I’ve selected three values for Project manager

Hello Tim,

I assume the ‘In’ operator translates to 'Bevat’ in Dutch. First question is: how can I add multiple values to this ‘In’ operator? The documentation has no information about this.

The application shows no button to add extra values to an operator

The use of this operator only solves part of the required functionality. With multiple selection a user should also be able to add extra operators to the same field for including one or more ranges and excluding specific values of ranges.

I have read the info on the new options in Advanced Filter, but this is really time consuming without an option to copy values from the clipboard.

Kind regards,

Hi Johan,

The filter ‘in’ is also called ‘in’ in Dutch. I’ve added a gif where I use it and use the advanced filter to add multiple filters to the same field to demonstrate the possibilities:

Does this solve your issue?

Kind regards,

Hello Tim,

Unfortunately, this doesn't solve the issue. First of all because the In-operator is not available for all selection fields. When available multiple values from an underlying table can be selected, but there is no possibility to add values from the clipboard or a file.

During testing I also discovered that not all operators are available for all selection fields. This seriously limits the use of filters in the TW-application compared to the functionality of SAP.

The use of Advanced Filter offers some possibilities to set up a filter with included and excluded values, but the fact that a user has to constantly select the same field makes is less user-friendly.

Maybe we can set up a Teams-meeting, where I can show you how this functionality is used in real-time.

Kind regards,

Johan van Drie
