How to link new users to a project version?

In TSF 2020.2.18 it is possible to add users to a project version in the SF by using Projects > Project overview (select project) > Project versions > Runtime configuration > Other users. Unfortunately this functionality is not documented in https://docs.thinkwisesoftware.com/docs/sf/overview.html.

In this list are shown the users and you can link them to this project version. Unfortunately newly created users can only be linked after they logged into the TSF (logging into IAM is not enough) and refreshing the list. The Active users prefilter does not seem to work.

My questions are:

  • What is the functionality of Other users within Project versions > Runtime configuration?
  • How can I add a new user after creating a project (version) and before they log into TSF?
  • What is the purpose of the Active users prefilter?

Hi Roy,

The runtime configuration provides an overview of all the known product instances of the current project version. This can be various databases but also differences in extended properties or file storage settings. In a sense, comparable to applications in IAM.

A checkbox ‘Active’ indicates whether or not this runtime configuration is activated for the current user.

Having it activated is required to include the runtime configuration when you start the Windows GUI on the Software Factory without a project/version/runtime configuration to automatically load this runtime configuration.

Additionally, when running applications in development (directly via in the Software Factory) using Universal and/or Indicium will only load active runtime configurations for the logged-in user.

When a runtime configuration is active, the project of the runtime configuration will be available in the project version selector in the ribbon, which is limited by default to ‘My projects’.

The Other users tab allows you to enable or disable the funtime configuration for other users.

You cannot add new users in this tab. This can be done at Settings > Users. Note that there is a Runtime configurations detail here as well which shows the active and inactive runtime configurations for the selected user. Note that the RDBMS user name must match the IAM user name here.

The active prefilter is used to hide users that are currently not involved in the development process. This is done by disabling all the checkboxes (analyst, designer, developer, reviewer, tester). This has no functional effect besides the inactive user not showing up in user lists by default in the Software Factory.

We’ll make sure to update the documentation on this subject.
