Custom pool user set

Am I understanding correctly that the Custom pool user set is meant to be able to synchronize with IAM without having to log in to TSF with a user and password that are the same as in IAM?

That would be very nice, but it is not clear to me how to use it? Is that only possible if you use TSF with the Universal GUI?

Hi Harm,

The Custom pool user is a feature for Indicium to synchronize to IAM or access a database under different credentials. These indeed can only be set-up via the 3-tier method. In this case using the Universal GUI.

The Software Factory is not fully supported yet for the Universal GUI but does already offer several screens. For instance, you can set the Custom pool user for the IAM Configurations.

We cannot make this available via Windows GUI without Indicium in between due to security of the credentials.

After setting up the Custom pool user credentials for the IAM Configuration, Indicium will start using those credentials rather than its own to connect to IAM.

I have now set the Custom Pool user for a IAM Configuration in Universal, that seems to work ok.

But I don’t see the purpose of it. I can only sync from SF to IAM within the Windows GUI and this doesn’t make use of the Custom Pool User.

Or did I mis something?

The added benefit is that the Indicium on the Development environment does not need direct rights to the Test or Production environment for example. You can use the Custom pool user to log in onto the Test or Production IAM using a different set of credentials for syncing your models to that IAM.

It also allows you to synchronize to IAM which runs in Azure for example.

That is exactly what I want to do, it is all set up correct now, and it works.

Thanks!
