Our end users have indicated that lookup fields would be more intuitive if the dropdown list opened automatically as soon as the cursor enters the field.
Currently, users must first type at least one character, or enter a space followed by a backspace, before the lookup values become visible.
I believe this behavior exists for a reason, but I'm curious how other community members experience it.
