I would like to make a process flow where the start table task has a keyboard shortcut, so that a user can open a multi-line / html control with the keyboard.

We have multiple workflows where users edit a ‘note’ or ‘description’ field in a form to add their latest information. For example after interaction with (potential) clients.
Right now, when editing this multi-line/ html field in-form, the shift + enter and enter navigate to the previous or next field in the form. Alt + enter is the only text-enter but results in more white space than the users like. The solution is then to open the lookup control where (shift +) enter behaves as desired. If this can be done with a keyboard bind instead of a mouse click it would streamline this process for them.

Now I know that you can add a custom keyboard bind to a task, but there is no way to have this tasks flow open the multi-line or html lookup control. It would be great if there was a process action that allows us to open the control of a specific field when in edit-mode.

Hi Djoeke,

Thanks for your idea about adding a process action to open the lookup control. I’d like to clarify what you’re aiming for, so we can determine the best solution.

– Do you actually need a full process flow (with an action, process step, conditions, etc.) to open the lookup control?
– Or are you mainly looking for a quick way or hotkey to open the lookup control — ideally something users could configure themselves, without needing a separate process action?

If it’s mainly about quick access, we should look into the possibility of handling that directly in the standard functionality, which would be simpler and easier to maintain than setting up a full process flow.

Could you let me know which of these fits your use case best? Then we can explore the most suitable approach together.

Best regards,
Ester

Hi Ester,

Yes it's mainly about quick access! Exactly what you say about users configuring a hotkey. Then something in the standard functionality would be ideal.

Thanks for your reply,
Djoeke

@Djoeke Helsloot In that case, let's not deal with this as a new Idea, but please raise a Ticket in TCP instead. We should provide a means to open the popup for a multiline/HTML field with the keyboard.

NOTE: Have updated the topic type from Idea to Question.
