A huge decrease of development time could be achieved by enabling 'Quick Model Editing', I believe. This will save a lot mouse clicks and search time in SF.

Yes, more or less. The new possibilities with deeplinks brought this idea and with all the functionality that is now available in the platform, this seems within reach. A complete change of the platform is not even necessary to make it happen.
We intend to make use of the underlaying Views the Universal GUI uses to write back any changes done to the model.
