We are in the process of setting up roles and then creating user groups with the selected roles. We would like to fully test the user groups in the Acceptance environment before they are moved to the Production environment. However, it is currently not possible to transfer the user groups from the Acceptance environment to the Production environment. After approval, the user groups have to be recreated entirely in the Production environment. This results in a higher chance of errors and just unnecessary extra work. The question is whether this can be made possible.

@Pcardol We already have a feature called Default user groups(https://docs.thinkwisesoftware.com/docs/sf/default_user_groups) in the Software Factory which is quite similar to what you are describing. Would this feature cover the needs raised in this idea?

Thanks for your reply, @Remco Kort .

We weren’t aware of the default user groups feature, so thank you for pointing us in that direction. We will look into it to see how workable it is for our situation, and I’m sure we will be able to make it fit.

That said, we still see value in being able to transfer group role configurations between environments. In our organization, role management is handled by the application administrator, not the developers. For us, the ideal workflow would be for the application administrator to maintain and test the group roles in the acceptance environment, and then apply the exact same configuration to production.
