In Universal we all are struggling with space on screens.

Instead of making task read only but still visible for the user i would like to opt for an option to also have influence on the overflow menu.

I dont want the task standard in the screen. but i do want to make the user aware the task is there but just not executable.

So when its executable in screen and useable
When not executable in the overflow menu. (so the user can still see the task but is aware he cant use it right now.

Hi Maarten!

There is another route we can (and I think should) take. Using the overflow as a ‘garbage bin’ to store all unnecessary items, can make it quickly hard to sift through, surpassing the goal you are trying to reach.

So, I want to propose the dropdown buttons. When Task/Reports/Cubeview or Prefilter buttons are grouped, and the ‘Submenu’ checkbox is checked in the SF settings (which used to make a subgroup in the Windows GUI, we can reuse this setting in the Universal GUI), the button group will be presented as a dropdown button, showing all buttons of that group.

Within that group, disabled buttons can be shown in the way you are opting.

What do you think of this option?

I love it.

Since work is already actively being done on the design for what Bart mentioned, which differs significantly from the original idea, I’m closing this idea. Any relevant updates will be communicated in the release notes.
