Improve end-user experience by assigning tasks to grid, form and ribbon

In our EVO application, subjects contain screen types with a grid above and a form with detailed information below the grid. Both screen parts have their own taskbar.

Multi-selecting lines in the grid is a valuable option. Tasks are also regularly applied in combination with a process flow, in this case the selected records are first collected in an xml.

There are situations where it is desirable that a task can only start on the form and not in the grid. Because some tasks are not suitable for use in combination with multi-select.

At this moment it’s not clear to end users whether a task will work properly with multi-select or not.

To improve the user experience we want to be able to configure the place from which the task may be started:

• Always (grid, form, ribbon), this is now the default.

• Only in the grid.

• Only in the form.

• Only in the ribbon.

The placement of the task icons in the taskbar should respond to these settings. So if a task may only be started in the grid, the task icon should not appear in the form. And vice versa.

Hi @Frank Junger,

Great idea. However, it sound quite a lot like this already existing idea:

Do you agree that both topics cover the same idea? In that case, I can merge both ideas (collecting votes from both topics) and you can still comment on your specific business case in that topic.
