Sometimes images are stored in a binary column in the database. At this moment it seems not possible to view these images with the preview component.
Main reason for using the preview component is because its responsive behavior.

Hi Harm, we're currently working on this feature and it should be available in a few weeks. The preview component does still need a filename to be able to determine the file type.
