We would like to have an Excel-style filter in cubes, in the same way it works in grids.

This is causing confusion with the users because the pivot grid in Universal looks so similar to a regular grid.

Currently the only option is to open the filter pop-up, go to the column and use ‘in’, this is not really a viable alternative.

I have updated the status of this Idea to Open, but I’d like to manage expectations here. At the moment we have no plans to implement this feature for Cubes and I don’t expect it to be a priority soon.

Functionality-wise excel-style filtering is not necessary to be able to filter the Cube, and we’ve spend tremendous time on integrating Cubes with regular Subject functionality as part of the Universal UI implementation already.

We recommend using the Filter popup or optionally the Filter form for filtering Cubes and we’re working on making it even more easy to open it. A few pointers:

  • First of all, we recommend showing the Filter action button next to the Search on the Action bar, rather than in the Overflow menu (default in older Models). You can use the Enrichment ‘Sets the filter after the search in the action bar’ to update your Subjects in one go.
  • Second of all, with upcoming Universal UI 2026.2.12 release we add a Filter button to the Cube panel (non-value) fields. The Filter button shows On hover. Clicking this will open the Filter popup with the focus on the clicked field:
  • If you deliberately don’t show the Cube panel to save space, know that we’ll work on implementing collapsible Splitters for Screen Types, which would allow your users to collapse the Cube panel. See this Idea to keep track of the implementation status:
