This option is available in the context menu, but would be nice to be executed automatically when a screen/dataset is openen or refreshed.

Agreed, but it should be configurable in the Extender properties. So the programmer can decide whether to have the map fitted or not.
We will take this into account when integrating the maps extender into the model, which is scheduled for the next release.
