In the past, when we used the WebGUI, we used the IAM Action Analysis. After switching to the  Universal GUI we can't get any data from the Action Analysis in the IAM. For us, as a ISV, it is valuable for us to know how our application is used by our customers and users.

Universal GUI currently only logs when the user opens or closes an application. Individual actions and shortkeys are not registered at the moment. It is not mentioned in the Universal GUI Forecast as of now. This idea is in place to monitor interest in this feature being fully supported by the Universal GUI.

We like to use this functionality to analyse the use of objects to prioritise optimisation of screens and tasks for the Universal GUI.

@André Romijn We have discussed this topic internally and concluded that it requires quite some implementation effort to make it work as intended for the Universal GUI. We also concluded that the original intent (providing advise to End users / a Self-learning User Interface) is a slightly different Use Case from the monitoring that you seem to be asking for.

Both conclusions combined with the current priorities make that we don’t expect any progress on this topic during this calendar year.

In the meantime, we can recommend using Application Insights for those of you who are on Azure.

@Arie V Are there any updates on this topic?

I also have a client that is eager to see the user action analysis and they are not working in the cloud but on-premise.

They are specifically interested in what screens and tasks are being used by the users. Not so much in the recommendations by the system. They want to use the data to help prioritize what parts of the application to improve/optimize first.

Any chance those actions can be logged separately?

While this is not as perfect as the logging of user actions in IAM, I would still recommend using the application log (Application log | Thinkwise Documentation) so you could already measure tasks/handlers/etc..

The opening of screens can’t be measured with the current capabilities. However, if you are mainly interested in the opening of the menu items itself, you could as a workaround (dynamically) create a task for each menu item that just opens the corresponding table/view with a process flow.

It is now 2025, almost 2026. And we are all working in an increasingly data-driven way. It is therefore valuable and only logical for every organisation to analyse how active users are in an application and which screens/actions they do (or do not) perform. This provides insight into usage: where do adjustments yield the most results and which features could possibly be removed? Here we are providing functionality that was already available in Web/Windows. Surely that can't be the intention?!
