When you run indicium in a container you have to go quite the mile to be able to get the generated deployment package. I would like to see the generate deployment package to end with a download (ZIP for example) of the package.

Current issues:

  • Now it references a location on my local PC.
  • It's build for windows path's
  • If you don't have volume defined you have to copy it out of the container.

Hi @Freddy,

In the 2024.2, which will be released today, we no longer use the domain controls File link and Folder link in the Software Factory and IAM. This also applies to the screen you are referring to.

These controls are especially suited for desktop applications where all users can access a file or folder from the same environment. In a 3-tier architecture and Azure, files can indeed be in a different location where users cannot link to directly. Moreover, browser applications cannot access desktop files.

Now, a button Copy to clipboard is available instead. You can use it to copy and paste the link to where the files are available, for example, in the file explorer or an AWS bucket.

Would this new method also suffice in your situation, or does your idea still apply?

Hi @Jeroen van den Belt this would only be viable if you can guarantee outside access to the container/pod indicium is running on. The idea stands that, especially, in containerized setups you would like the deployment directory zipped and offered as a download via the GUI.

The alternative is remote file storage providers, like AWS bucket.. to be technological agnostic here as well it would be good to see an expansion of supported services. There is an existing idea for that.
