You should be able to update / change an idea when you make a grammar mistake or tpyo

Related products:Community

I just posted an Idea and realised I made a grammar mistake, I could not update or alter this mistake. This is annoying and undermines the idea. So it would be great if we could edit the idea (for the first few minutes after it has been posted).

Did this topic help you find an answer to your question?

Hi @HarryA,

Agreed, however this is not something we can offer by ourselves. This functionality has not been made available yet by our Community supplier.

An idea regarding this matter is already present on their own Community (it has my vote). They are striving to implement it before the end of the year, hopefully this will be the case. 🤞

Hopefully this provides some insight.

Hi @HarryA,

I checked with our Community supplier, and they say it should be possible now to edit your own idea afterwards. Sadly, this does not appear to be the case. I notified them once again, hopefully this will be resolved on short notice. Once I get a reaction from them, I will notify you.

Hi @HarryA,

Our Community supplier ensured me that this should now work: “Authors can now edit their Ideas alongside replies on Ideas and Product Updates within 1-hour of creation.”

Can you confirm if this is the case?

I noticed yesterday that there was an edit option hidden under the dots …. and I’m checking it now again, as it disappeared for old posts.

( edited )
After notice: Below I had to post twice as the timeout was to long, and it became 4 posts. I can still edit this post.

As I understand this should also count for the initial “idea” or “question” and I agree.

I was just able to change my idea !!!! The feature was already there or just created, under the dots ….

The result is yes,

So, there is a feature to correct mistakes, unknown to most of the Thinkwise users, as I also commented about this before, and got the answer that it is not there.

The remaining question is for how long it is there, and what makes that it disappears on older posts.

I have this option now, but not on older posts …

Hmmm, uploading took so long that I did it 2 times.

But, yes, the option is there …. an option to delete would also be nice ….

Forum|alt.badge.img+5

It could be that I can do this on posts, but not on the initial idea. In that case this option should be extended to the initial idea. So, I upvote.

Hi Daan, that is correct, you are able to edit within 1-hour of creation.

Thank you both for checking, I will complete this idea.

I think that it might be better not to close this post, as the edit option is hidden and both I and Henry did not see it for a year.

It might be good to make the option more visible.

It would also be good to have a delete option, as long as nobody replied.

Hi Daan,

Since the main goal of this idea was to being able editing, and our Community supplier has delivered this feature, we will keep this idea closed.

For your additional suggestions, these would also need to be developed by our Community supplier.

  • Regarding the visualization of the edit option: I've created an idea on their Community to make it more visible. Please see for yourself if you want to create a separate idea here to stay updated.

  • Regarding the delete option: This raises some conceptual questions, like what happens if someone is already responding to your idea and you delete it? Or if we have already assessed it, or even placed it on our backlog? I'm not sure if Thinkwise should have an opinion on this, or if we should just follow our Community supplier's approach on this. If you feel strongly about this, please create a separate idea for this with some more arguments, so I can put it up for discussion internally.

Jeroen
