At this moment there is a big limitation on how you can build a screen.

Each new detail is a rectangular box with a new layout. One thing I would like to be able to do is this;

----------   ---------------------------------

     A

----------                 C

    B

-----------  ---------------------------------

With a relationship A → B → C

With the current screen engine this is not possible, and it will become;

----------

     A

----------   ---------------------------------

    B                         C

-----------  ---------------------------------

It would become possible to create different screen layouts, and give much more freedom if a detail   area could be linked to another detail area, instead of the main subject, within one screen.

I understand that implementing this would be a huge change, but it would give much more freedom.

@Daan Heemskerk I have been pondering on this Idea for a bit and definitely see some scenarios in which this could be valuable, but it could also be more confusing.

Maybe we should even want to take this a bit further, in which the Detail C in your example could actually also display a Screen component for your Main subject A.

Let me give a example: if we take below Idea on showing multiple Detail tabs on a single page as configured in one of the replies by @Mark Jongeling, then I’d like the right part of the screen (your C) to be a Form which is re-used by both the Main and Detail tabs to display the Form for any selected Grid record on that screen.

As you said: it’s a big change from where we are now, so don’t expect implementation soon. But I’ll set this Idea to Open and await further voting.
