Storing icons and reports in the databaseBlog

When creating an application, using icons is an important part of the user experience. Likewise, reports can add a lot in terms of BI. Up until now these files have always had to reside on the file system, which can bring some added hassles during deployment. The files needed to be present in the correct location, all users needed the appropriate rights to access these locations and after deployment IAM always had to be pointed to the right location to be able to find the files. With the release of version 2020.2 of the SF and IAM we’ve taken some steps to relieve these issues. Starting with 2020.2, icons and reports will be stored as BLOBs in the database. This means that whenever the database is deployed, all icons and reports will automatically be deployed with it and the SF and IAM will instantly have access to them. Thinkwise Platform Release 2021.2release notes

We are all very excited to announce version 2021.2 of the Thinkwise Platform.Our highlighted feature for this release is multi-tenancy in IAM. By implementing multi-tenancy, multiple customers will be able to work in the same IAM instance. The feature will make it possible to designate users and user groups to a tenant, thereby providing those users with a completely separate environment within IAM. This eliminates the need to provide each customer with their own IAM instance as they can now safely work under their own tenant in one IAM instance.Multi-tenancy in IAMOf course this is not all that is included in this release. When developing software, a certain level of quality is expected in order for the final product to be accepted. Unit testing is an important part of the process to ensure that the software lives up to that standard of quality. Unit testing focuses on taking the smallest testable parts of software and matching the actual results of that unit against the expected results for a given input. With the 2019.1 release of the Software Factory we have taken steps to automate this process. Unit testing has always been possible, but up until now involved a manual process. Developers had to manually define the test, execute it and compare results. With unit testing in the Software Factory we’ve aimed to make this process efficient, reusable, and easy to implement in new and existing projects. Breakpoints for a responsive User Experience on every platformBlog

When we started development on our new Universal GUI, one of our main goals was to create a User Interface that worked well on all platforms, be it desktop, tablet or mobile. This feature was so important to us that it even inspired the name. One important distinction between all these platforms is the amount of available screen real estate, or in other words the amount of pixels on a screen that you have to work with. Something that works great on a desktop client might not look so hot when it’s all mashed together on a mobile device. And resizing certain elements on the screen can drastically impact how useful certain screen elements are. Resizing the form on a screen can make it so that the grid that was displaying so much information before now only shows a handful of columns. Extend your feature setBlog

For a long time we have offered features outside of our standard range as extenders; small files containing custom code that configure a range of properties which allow the use of an otherwise unavailable feature, such as the maps component or the resource scheduler. This was a great way to integrate new (and sometimes experimental) components, but it also introduced a lot of overhead and decreased maintainability of the GUI. Every little change to the extender meant changing the code, compiling it into a dll, and deploying it. Furthermore, changes to our codebase that impacted a certain extender meant going through the extenders for every customer and checking for errors. To address these issues we decided to create a way to model the extenders in the Software Factory. While it's still not a full integration of these features into the Software Factory it creates an easily accessible and maintainable way to implement the current set of extenders into your products. Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: SF 2023.1 20230303 - Execute Code difference delta actions in merge session When merging from Origin to the Branch, any conflicts that were resolved using the Code difference task were not processed correctly causing the Branch value to be overwritten by the original Origin value. Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: IAM 2022.2 and up20230125 - Prevent self-rename and self-deletion of user In a previous platform improvement a handler was added to the user screen which allowed the user to delete other users through the delete action in the ribbon. The problem was that by adding the handler it also became possible to delete your own user, which would obviously cause some other problems. That is why a fix has been released to disable the handler when any user selects their own user in the Users screen in IAM. IAM 2023.1 20230127 - Fix for IAM file storage not updating correctly Fixed an issue where some fields for IAM file storage locations would not update correctly.

Since this fix has proven to be beneficially for all product versions, it has also been released for all platform versions that are currently supported. IAM 2022.220221212 - Allow rename-self during oidc provisioning For security, all changes to the user during OIDC login are done under the authority of the users' own account. As a general rule, renaming your own account and deleting your own account is not allowed to prevent problems with session consistency - this would require the user to be logged out immediately. This logic prevented the OIDC provisioning from completing the rename action. This has been resolved. Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: SF 2021.2 and up 20221207 - Updated delete column task in relation to parent_col Previously when deleting a column from a table, that was also used as the parent column in the tree (Subjects > Components > Tree), the column that it was assigned to as a parent column would also be deleted. Since this was undesirable behavior, this has been updated. When deleting a column that is used as a parent column, this value will simply be emptied on the tree settings of that table. The column which used to have a parent assigned to it will continue to exist and only the parent column is actually deleted. Hello everyone!We’ve released the following hotfixes over the last few weeks:SF 2021.220211111 - Sort order index columns When generating projects, sort order indexes are created for tables based on its sorting. The order of the index columns was alphabetically instead of based on the order no. This has been fixed. IAM 2021.320211103 - Execute source code regex update It was possible that code files would be split into multiple statements at wrong places causing errors during the Execute source code process. Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: SF and IAM 2023.120230330 - IgnoreFloatingLabelWidth support A new extended property is now available. It is called 'IgnoreFloatingLabelWidth' and ignores configured label widths in the model for form columns, task- and report parameters when the form control type in the Universal GUI uses a 'floating label'. Enabling this extended property will match the Universal GUI's form configuration more closely to the Windows GUI's. For example: given the following form configuration in the Software Factory: The Windows GUI and Web GUI will visualize the form as follows: The orange color indicates the full-form element widths, including the label. The green color indicates only the input field widths. Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: IAM 2021.1 and up20221003 - cardlist translation correction When using a cardlist translation in Universal, the wrong translation was retrieved. Now the correct translation will be retrieved. 20221004 - Copying extended properties When copying a GUI application in IAM, we only included the extended properties in the copy that also existed in the SF model. This was not correct, because it is also possible to manually add extended properties in IAM. You also want to include these extended properties. This has now been fixed. To start this blog post off, I’m sure the state of affairs the last few months has presented everyone with many challenges. Fortunately for us, after a very short adjustment period, we’ve managed to adapt to working from home and went back to working on this release at full speed. In this release we’ve taken our first steps to implement AutoML. Right now it’s possible to start training models based on data from your application. Eventually, these models can be used to make predictions about future data.
