Recently an undocumented change has been made in Indicium (see this comment from Vincent Doppenberg). As a result a lot of our users (and those of other customers as the Community shows) experience the below annoying behavior:After a bit of idle time, they return to the Application and see the screen still open on the Subject where they left it They then click to continue their work and instead of the GUI suddenly throws a Session expired popup (this should be much more elegant, as per this Idea: Universal GUI - elegant session timeout | Thinkwise Community (thinkwisesoftware.com)) However, the user's login is still valid (for example because they checked the Remember me box on the login page, or because they use Azure AD as Identity provider for which the login is configured to stay valid longer) Then after clicking the ‘Close’ button on the Session expired popup, the GUI automatically redirects, reauthenticates, and reopens the original screen (unfortunately the Start Objects start a
The Search functionality of Universal is a great way to find specific records. This search is performed against all records in the Subject. However, only the records that match the pre-filters are displayed. The GUI does not inform the user of records found behind active pre-filters. Desired solution:In case the Search does find records which are HIDDEN behind Pre-filters: trigger a similar Snackbar message as triggered when creating a record that does not match active pre-filters and when the user clicks SHOW: make sure to open a Zoom screen and show all Records that match the Search query, including the one previously hidden behind a pre-filter.
Automation of deployments helps in speeding up the deployments ánd at the same time reduces time spent by Developers/Operators on these mundane and repeating tasks. One of the great features of the Thinkwise low-code platform in terms of development speed, is also one of the most annoying features from an end user perspective: the concept of Detail Tabs for related tables. It is very challenging to keep the UI clean and understandable when getting more and more related tables. We deployed the latest Universal GUI 2023.3.13 BETA and we're trying to figure out a couple of new features. However, we don't see the Screen types or Details options in the Overflow menu. Apart from the setting ‘Available for user preference’ on Screen Type, what other pre-requisites apply?NOTE: We are still on TWP 2023.2 and ran all Hotfixes. The Universal GUI now supports most of the Filter-related features that also exist in the Windows GUI. Over the period in which additional features have been added, I have been struggling a bit to form an opinion. I am off course happy that more options are available, but I also doubt how intuitive and accessible it is to end users. I'm trying to figure out what should be improved to ensure our end users actually utilize these features. What do you think? A couple of thoughts from my side:In my experience the average end user doesn't click on Overflow menus, unless they are explicitly searching for something. As a result, the Quick filter and the Filter form are not used that often, while they offer great functionality to quickly filter out data. Instead, the Combined search is used way more often, but that one is slower and less specific. I believe it would be benificial to always have the Filter button on the Action bar next to the Combined filter or as the first button in the Pre-fi
It would be great to be able to add Menu items to the topbar in the Universal GUI. I presume this is not new to the Universal development team. It is becoming quite common for applications to have a few icons to the top right (next to the User icon) with usefull features. If we would have the ability to ‘pin’ certain Menu items to the topbar, we come a long way I believe.These Menu items could be displayed as small Icons, including Badge symbols. Some ideas for which I believe this feature would be valuable:My Tasks: a list with all Open Tasks for that User. Badge symbol to show nr of Open Tasks My Workflow/Approvals: a list with all Pending Approvals/Reviews for that User. The latest Indicium release includes a nice feature to more centrally monitor the Login events on the Thinkwise platform. Currently this works with Azure Application Insights, but since we're on AWS it would be great to have this supported with AWS CloudWatch too!Could this please be added?
At the moment, expired users are treated the same as non-existing users. IAM User with an end date added in IAM ‘Ends on’ field get an 'Incorrect username or password' error on both Indicium and Universal Login page, but username and password are actually correct. Could you differentiate between users that don't exist and expired users and return a more descriptive and correct error?
Hi Community,We're looking at ways to enable our Crew members to sign-in on our Thinkwise application as frictionless as possible. One way to achieve that is enabling multiple OpenID providers, allowing our Crew to use their personal email and password. Quite some of our Crew use a Yahoo account. Does anyone have experience with setting up Yahoo as OpenID provider? Either in Thinkwise IAM or in Microsoft Azure AD as B2B or B2C Identity provider?If so, could you please share your experiences and particularities that you encounter?
We often have situations (especially on status fields) were a user is only allowed to use certain element values or to move it from one element to one other element. The availability of a given element would be based on User permissions or current status (for example: if current status is A, you can only change it to B, and if current status is B you can only change to A or C, but not D). The current ways of resolving these situations feel like workarounds, which should not be necessary for such a straightforward request in a platform called low code. Suggested solutions I have heard are:Create two (or more) similar Domains with similar, but not all, Elements and determine in the Layout procedure which one to show. This basically means adding (sort of) duplicate domains, which is ugly and risky from a maintenance perspective... Use a Lookup to a Table or View with Pre-filters. This is more effort, clutters the Data Model and is probably worse in performance than a Domain with Elements.
Process Actions in the Universal GUI related to navigating through screens don't perform too well. A user can navigate faster through the GUI manually. One of the reasons for this are the many HTTP calls that are triggered after a Process Action is executed. A bit similar to the concept of Refresh after Execute for Tasks, it would help if there is a setting available for each Process Action in which it can be determined whether or not to immediately perform the next Process Action. An example:A Process Flow that performs Open Document > Change Filter > Go to Row should only retrieve the Data after the required (set of) Row(s) is determined with the Go to Row Process Action. Can something like this be added to the Platform soon?
IAM holds a tag base table and a usr_tag table. For some functionality we built it would be helpful to have Tags available for User Groups too. And while we're at it, it's probably helpful for us and/or others to have them on Applications and Tenants too. Could this be added to IAM?
One of the greatest features in Office 365 nowadays is the Microsoft Search box on top of every Office 365 screen. It searches through all O365 tools, records and document content I have access to. This does away with the traditional need to navigate to the right menu/folder and then filter/search for the right record or document, as well as with the concept of adding a very long and descriptive title or tags for a document.Other tools also offer this feature and display the returned records order per Entity (see attachment for how Salesforce does this). Could this functionality be added to Thinkwise, having the Search box in the top bar of the Universal GUI?
As a follow up on this conversation: it would be great if there would be a simple way to create multiple custom login screens for the same Application and Infrastructure. This way we could differentiate login flows for different ‘types’ of users in our organization (as a direct customer of Thinkwise), for example:Internal users with Azure AD account are automatically redirected to the Microsoft login screen, specific for our Tenant in order to ensure our MFA/Conditional Access policies Internal users without an Azure AD account are automatically redirected to the Local login screen External users with a generic registration at Microsoft / Google are automatically redirected to the login screen with both Microsoft (common) and Google as login optionsIn addition, I believe this could be of great added value for ISV's as well, whereby they can offer their customers the ability to use a tailored Login screen and use their customer-specific OpenID provider.Having to run multiple IAM databas
Since TWP 2023.1 it is possible to store different Pool user credentials, provided that data protection settings are configured in Indicium's appsettings.json. The Encrypt/Decrypt process actions provide great potential to secure our own data too. However, the current behavior is rather tricky: Indicium will generate a new Key every 90 days, but in order to decrypt data that is encrypted with an older Key we need to keep all old Keys.As a result the Docs contain below warnings, but these Docs are not necessarily top of mind of IT Operators. Also, 10 years from now we would have 40+ of such Keys, some of which more than 10 years old. That might trigger IT Operators to clean up the Key vaults. As such, I believe the current setup poses a serious and hard to manage risk that old Keys will be lost at some point. IDEA: every time Indicium triggers creation of a new Key, all Encrypted data must be updated with the new Key and the old Key should automatically be deleted afterwards. This will
Currently the GUI does not distinguish between Zoom screens versus Main screens in the Open Documents part of the Menu. It would be very helpful to have a subtle indication (a small icon f.e.) of an Open Document being a Zoom screen, as it would help users to quickly know where to go (usually to Main) and/or which screens to close (usually Zoom).Which one is Main and which are Zoom screens?
We have been live in Production with the Universal GUI since November 2020. During the past few years the functionality of the Universal GUI has been massively improved by Thinkwise. In the meantime we as Thinkwise customer have learned a lot from our end users regarding their User Experience with the Universal GUI. Similar to the Creation screen, we would like to be able to use the ‘Set source for data migration and upgrade’ task in the Deployment package screen and then decide to Continue creation or Review mapping: Currently there is no way to see and/or determine which Source branch and model version are going to be used in the Deployment package. One has to navigate to Model overview > Branches > Form to figure out the setting, and if incorrect, navigate to Data migration and execute the ‘Set source for data migration and upgrade’ task. We are currently testing the cloud-hosted Universal GUI on a few of our vessels. At sea they use VSAT internet, which is famously known for having high latency / low bandwidth.I am wondering what kind of configuration possibilities are available on the platform to optimize the performance in this situation as much as possible?A few specific issues that we encounter:On loading the Universal GUI the first time, even before login a shocking 86.8 MB of data is added to the Cache storage. What can we do to significantly reduce this amount of data?On loading the Universal GUI the browser could time-out. What could we do with our Indicium/IIS settings to make the browser wait longer for a response? On Commit we get a snackbar error that says ‘It took more than 10000ms to send all updates to Indicium.’ and the Commit is cancelled. Is it possible to increase this value somehow?Any other recommendations, be it for the Infrastructure or configuration in the SF, are also highly appreciated!
It would be great if the Multi-Factor Authentication functionality of Thinkwise provides a ‘Trust device for X days’ setting. This should then not trigger another MFA request for that user on that specific device for the configured amount of days, while still prompting for the password (1 factor).Expected functionality would be similar as described here for Azure AD, but then for Thinkwise IAM accounts: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/reports-monitoring/recommendation-mfa-from-known-devicesImportant: the number of days should be configurable by us.
This Idea is more or less a follow up on the Idea regarding the Universal GUI zoom. The Compact mode has significantly improved the ability to properly work with the Universal GUI, however it is still a challenge to display a sufficient amount of data on a single screen in the Universal GUI for a data-rich ERP system, due to the large amount of white-space/padding/… around both Grid and Form controls.The Universal GUI Forecast has planned something for reducing the Grid line height and font size, but I would like to argue that the width of the Grid columns could be reduced as well.Grid line height and font size settingsThis will allow for custom settings for the grid line and font sizes. These settings are only used by compact mode for this first iteration! In addition to Grid changes, this Idea aims for similar reductions on Forms and potentially other Screen Types.
The Resource Scheduler pop-up is positioned below the mouse by default. This is rather annoying for users, as they usually navigate from top to bottom and left to right through the Planning screen. Could the pop-up show at the top right (not above, not besides) of the mouse?
Is it me, or is there no documentation for doing a Software Factory / IAM upgrade to a new Platform version?We are testing with the upgrade to TWP 2023.1 and both Developers working on it forgot to do a Synchronization of the new SF model to the IAM for the SF, due to which they got errors they couldn't explain.Rather annoying that I cannot refer my Developers to a straightforward step-by-step guidance on performing SF/IAM upgrades.
