Why are all indexes rebuilt during a smart upgrade

We currently use the Thinkwise 2023.3 product. It seems that in this version all indexes are being rebuilt when doing a smart upgrade.In the current version of our application only one new table is introduced, but it takes much longer than in the previous version of the SF (2023.1) we used. Hundreds if of indexes are created, so the upgrade takes longer than expected.Anybody else have experienced this? Is this new in this version and if so, why? Can't it be “smarter”?

Run import data in backgroundOn the backlog

The ability to run a task in the background in an endproduct should also be available when importing or exporting data in the various GUI's. I'm importing a table with postalcodes (no default or layout on the table, only a trigger for tracefiels) takes probably an hour for 50.000 rows I'm guessing after waiting for 10 minutes. It would be a great addition when such a job could be placed in the background so the GUI can be used to perform other tasks.

Cleanup dbo.use_log_usr_action in IAM

In our IAM database the table use_log_usr_action has grown to 12GB. Information in the table dates back to 2014 in our case. Models and branches in de log are long gone. So it would be great if there was a way to clean things up and create some free space.The same question goes for table use_log_session. That one even goes back to 2012… I would like to see a cleanup flow in IAM or instructions here how te clean it up… I know Thinkwise uses these tables as well to determine the amount of users to calculate the license fee each year. But we don't need the information older then for instance two or three years.

Ability to copy translation from pathClosed

When using ALT+F1 in the GUi it is possible to see information about a tabel, column etc., etc. like shown below.In the object panel the translation of an item, in this case a column, is shown.For documentation purposes the posibilty to copy/paste this particular tekst would come in handy many of times. As far as I know this is currently not possible, and manuallty typing the text is the way to go.. Whether adding the possibility of copying the text in this part of the screen, or adding a field in the right part doesn't matter.

Menu entries availability depending on screensizeOpen

As far as I know this is not possible yet, but similar to breakpoints for screentypes, we would like to see a posibility to have a menu option available or not depending on screen sizes. Some option in a particular menu would be very impractical if not impossible to use on a mobile device like a phone or smaller tablet.In that way we can have users that work on desktops as well as phones having one and the same menu and depending on the screen size might have one or more options dropped, as manipulating a particular table with dozens of fields to be entered for example on a mobile device might be totally impractical.

Notification entries in IAM

Hello all,I stumbled over a detail tab with Users in IAM. It is callled "Notifications” and I have no clue where it is being used.Some process however “reads” the entries en removes them. I expected it to be something for the universal GUI, but I haven't found a single message anywhere when (staying) signed on as a specific user. The message I entered in IAM is removed after an unknown number of minutes however.Can anybody tell me where this could be used for and where such a message can be expected to show up?

Title of application for branches in Windows GUI

Is there a way to get a different “Display name” for a branch? In the example below I have 3 active branches and they all show the same name. The only way to differentiate between branches is have a look at the appication ID’s .The name shown is always Title_1 from "model_maintenance”. I haven't found a way to have each branch (for instance a branchname or the database name used or a Jira feature number). When testing an application it is very confusing to know which branch is being tested.I have found a similar question in the community, but that one is three years old and concerned the Universal GUI. DEFAULT_TESTCASES base project missing in our SF?

Hi,In the Thinkwise documentation we read something about Default Testcases (Process tests | Thinkwise Documentation (thinkwisesoftware.com)). We wanted to have a look at this, but much to our supries no base project can be found called DEFAULT_TESTCASES. Is this something that has been added in versiions 2023.2 or 2023.3? I can't tell if the documentation is suitable for all versions or just the latest. We are running version 2023.1 of the SF.

Install universal as an App on mobile

Hi,I can't figure out when and how universal (or Android/Apple for that matter) “sees” there is a new version of the universal GUI installed on the webserver.I tried several things and sometimes I got it to work, but no clue when and how the message “a new version is available” is shown after logging on the the universal app. Changing Changed installNotificationExpirationInDays to various numbers.My settings in config.json { "defaultApplication": "something_portal", "defaultPlatform": 3, "loginOptionsDisabled": true, "loginOptionsHidden": true, "installNotificationDisabled": false, "installNotificationExpirationInDays": 20, "useFormFieldBackgroundColor": true, "serviceUrl": "*****/iam/iam"} Anybody an idea how to “force” the installation on the device?

Differentiate tables from task or reports in listbar menuClosed

Currently there is no way, in for instance Themes, to differentiate between tables, tasks or reports in a listbar menu. Or I have missed something. See the example below; the last two items are tasks and the rest are tables. I've switched of “Show icons” in the Theme, to keep it slick… Whether a table or view is opened or a task is started (possible on the background) is a surprise for a (new) user…. It would be nice if there were a way to seperate tasks from tables in a Listbar menu. This might be done by the GUI or give the developer the tools to achieve this…Perhaps the addition of a dummy divider line with possibly a translatable label...

Procedure options in the SFOpen

In the SF there is a tab "Subroutine options” since version 2018.3 (see Execute as option | Thinkwise Community (thinkwisesoftware.com),We now use this in a particular subroutine en during the creation proces this is “translated” to a option in the resulting procedure. I would like to see the same possibility with TASKS. Tasks in the end will also result in a procedure, just like a subroutine.I don't really understand how Thinkwise translates “EXECUTE_AS” to “ with execute as ...” but that asiide.And not just this. I would like to see more of this… For example, in a few tasks we want / need a “with recompile” option to have an acceptable performance. There are probably better ways to get a task running faster besides using “with recompile”, but for now this works for us.In Transact-SQL there are currently 3 options, I think, when creating a procedure, so it would be nice if all three are selectable per procedure (task, subroutine, default, layout…. actually everywhere that results i

Mouse hover timeout in Windows and Web GUIOpen

I don't have a clue how many of us are still using the Windows and Web GUI's instead of the Universal GUI, but I have noticed that the tooltip timeout (mouse hover / mouse over) of a field in the grid is absent in Universal, whereas in the Windows Gui a build-in timeout of some 4 or 5 seconds seems to be used…In the Web gui the tooltip isn't even shown at all for the field in this example. But that could be to the fact that it's not the most recent Gui we're using.It would be nice if a timeout could be set Application wide in for example the Extended Properties of an Application. In the example below we have a field that has aggregated various user messages in one field in the grid en when the mouse hovers over the field, the aggregated message is shown. Perhaps it isn;t the most elegant solution, but it covers what the user needs.In Universal the popup stays indefinitely In the Windows GUI a user has to be very quick in reading, as the popup dissapears in a few seconds. Automatic resize of uploaded imagesOpen

Currently we have two variations when it comes to uploading documents to an application. One where the documents are placed in the filesystem and one where filestreams are used. In the first one it is possible to resize images when needed, but it's all manual labour. But when filestreams are used, this is no longer the case. We are not to keen on limiting the size of uploads, but some users go absolutely mad it seems. We could use different Storage types & locations for various upload columns and limit what kind of files (extensions) are allowed in a default procedure. But it would help if we could resize images on the flight when they are beïng uploaded. I've seen JPEGs that could cover a decent size wall when printed, which is totally unnecessary. If the upload control could automatically resize these kinds of images (dimensions, number of colors, DPI etc) based on a setting that's made on a Storage type or on domain level, would be a great feature. Test console and Test case recorder

In the Software Factory documentation I read something about the buttons "Test console" and "Test case recorder". Thing is, I only see them in a test environment (against the SF and without IAM) in the GUI, but they appear grayed out. In the documentation pages they appear active...Is there anybody who knows how to activate them and better, how to use them? I seem to remember these buttons in the past (SF G9.8 or so), but why are these buttons still there if the can;t be used?See Developer mode | Thinkwise Documentation (thinkwisesoftware.com)

Task parameter lookup acting like combined filterOpen

Currently a parameter of a task can have a lookup configured and the lookup control can be set to “Combo”, “Auto complete” etc etc.We would like to see a new option: “Contains words” or something in that matter. The functionality would be similar to Contains, but rows are selected like when using a combined filter in a grid.Below a taks with one parameter. The lookup control is defined as "Suggestion contains”. Indication if new objects have been authorisedCompleted

For each projectversion, authorising new objects remains a hassle. Sometimes, you, as a programmer, immediately sets appropriate authorisation to roles when adding new functionality, Sometimes others add things or things get lost while handeling all kinds of new functionality… All in all, after weeks or months of building stuff, the day arrives when you go from test to acceptation or production… To get an idea if everything new has been, at least, reviewed for authorisation related stuff, it would help to see you or someone else has already taken a look at the new object. Also, when a new table is authorisised with a task in the SF, all fields could also be marked, which can reduce the number of new, unauthorised, new objects quite a bit. A pre-filter in the screen below, default ON, to sift out already “handled” new object is also much appreciated. Something like this, or by using a conditional format:

max_no_of_records not working for indicium_universal?

We have a table with readings per vehicle. This table is reachable via indicium universal for external parties. They can query by vehicle, sort on date etc etc… That's all fine. But if one forgets to use Ttop=10 of $top=100 for example in the URL, a list of thousans of records can and will be returned.When setting for example max_no_of_records on a table, the (windows) GUI respects such a setting. Indicium universal however ignores this setting completely. Will this be introduced in a future release of indicium universal? And will there be a way to query a variant in the future?

Copy all references when copying tableMerged

When using task copy_tab in the SF it would be great if all references were also copied. When for example a table is copied to a view or a different table, it is quite a hassle to manually add all references. This could easily be done (just change the name of the reference)

Automatic login for Web based GUIOpen

Deeplinking to a processflow in a Thinkwise application is already possible. But when a user gets (for example) an email with a deeplink to a processflow that confirms the timely delivery of a work order, he or she alway has to enter his or her cridentials and press Login.Wouldn't it be great to somehow have a javascrpt or other solution in on the login button (or login page of the GUI) that recognizes the fact that a username and password is already entered and automatically does the login? The username and password can be stored by the browser, so for a user it would seem as if the deepling really is what it pretents to be.

Number of failed login attempts (Indicium basic)

When using indicium (basic), a user will be locked out after an x number of wrong login attempts.My question:Is it possible to change the number of allowed login attempts? Extended propery perhaps. Can the number of minutes a user becomes locked out be changed? Extended propery perhaps. Can Thinkwise change the message a user gets after reaching the number of failed attempts?Currently the message: “username and password combination is wrong” is NOT correct. After applying the correct password the message stays the same…. Where are user preferences related to prefilters stored

I've got a subject with prefilters. I have changed some default settings for the prefilters and this works fine… However… Where is this information stored? I can't find anything in IAM (table usr_pref_tab_prefilter_status), nor do I see the information where I'd expect to find it within IAM:Anybody an idea what I'm missing here?

Skipping a release

We currently use SF/IAM version 2020.2… Due to a lack of time, there hasn't been time to upgrade to a more recent version. I've downloaded version 2020.2 to see if it somewhere tells me I can't skip a version (just for checking).My question: is there a check in twdeployerGUI.exe on the version that is currently running and does twdeployerGUI.exe take care of what needs to be done to skip (in this case) one release?I can of course do an upgrade and see if it fails, but I'd rather know that it is possible…..

Disabling the possibility to make changes to generated screen typesOn the backlog

When screen types are defined in a Base project and thus imported/genereated into a working projectversion, it is still possible to change them. All changes, however, will be lost after generating the definition of the version. When a mix of generated and new, specially for a version created, screen type exist one can easily make the mistake of changing a screen type in a working projectversion instead of in the base project where a screen type is generated from, For generated domains editing it is already disabled in the SF, so why not of screen types. Or for all generated items for that matter.

Possibility to make domain elements "Inactive"Completed

We've got a table with years of historic data. Numerous fields are dropdowns with a fixed set of of domain elements. A customer now has the desire to come up with a complete different set of possible values and keep the historic data working (with the old values). There is no way to get this done with how domains and elements work currently. A great addition (i.m.h.o) would be the addition of a new field in a domain element "active" or "available_to_gui" or something like that. This would then reslult in the GUI not showing elements that are not active when the drop is pulled (or grayed out if that's a better way), but in that matter the translation would still work for historic data. When adding new records to the table, the inactive elements should not show up.
