How to anonymize sensitive dataBlog

With the introduction of Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation, it is more important than ever for companies that their IT environment is secure and meets the legal requirements for privacy protection. To help our customers comply with this new legislation, we added a new feature “Data sensitivity” to the Thinkwise Platform to automate the anonymization of personal data in any Thinkwise application. This feature can not only be used for personal data, but also for other sensitive data like passwords or credit card numbers. With this new feature, we enable you to set the sensitivity for each data column of your application in the “Data sensitivity” modeler. View-columns, calculated fields, and identity fields are not data columns and therefore are not shown. A prefilter is provided to suggest which columns are sensitive, based on keywords or because columns with the same name or domain are also marked sensitive. Jump between SF screensCompleted

Hello dear Community readers, In the upcoming release of 2023.1 we expect to technically change the way screens are opened for every screen that used the ribbon to select a project and version (so almost all SF screens).A side-effect is that is it now possible to automatically (read: with process flows) open other SF screens without losing the connection to your selected project and version. I could think of a few places where this is very helpful, for instance to switch from data model to subject with respect for the table that you were working on.My question to you is; where would you like to use this the most in the Software Factory? I would love to hear your ideas! Greetings,Ester Product Owner SF & IAM

Algoritm to search for "Match whole words"

Does anyone know a good algorithm to search a string on whole words only. For example, look for order and not order_line in a query.    This could be an useful addition to code search.

Squash your data conversionBlog

During development of a project, often many project versions are created to facilitate for data-model changes. After development is complete and the production database needs to be upgraded, it is desirable to create a single script to upgrade the current production version to the final project version. This requires that the data conversion definition for all intermediate project versions is merged, or squashed, into a single data conversion from the first to the final version. How does it workLet’s see how it works with an example. We start out with the table customer in version 3.80. This table is renamed to clients in version 3.90, for which we create a data conversion record. In version 4.00 we rename the table clients to client (because we always use singular nouns for entity names), so another data conversion record is created. If you want to upgrade from version 3.80 to version 4.00 without doing an intermediate upgrade to version 3.90, you need to squash the

Generation has been started

I’m going to generate this project!  Where are my program objects, oh, it’s generating…. Does this sound familiar?   In the 2020.2 release, we will introduce a cool new feature to send notification emails when generating a project. To receive these emails, an email address can be provided. Best practices will be to use a group email address to notify all team members working on the project.   Microsoft Teams offers an easy solution for group emails. Every channel within MS Teams has a unique email address which can be retrieved by right-clicking on the channel. This email address can be used to send the notifications emails to the channel. The notifications will pop up on the channel as follows: Generation start and finishThe notification email will be sent at the start and finish of definition and source code generation. How to configure data conversionBlog

A very important step in preparing for an upgrade is setting up version control for the data conversion. If version control is not used correctly, it can even mess up your database. Best case scenario, the upgrade-script will fail and a backup should be restored. But in the worst case scenario, the upgrade will run without errors and you’ll lose data. Because it is such an important feature, we wanted to emphasize it by adding version control to the menu and writing a blog post about it. But as the post progressed, we realized some improvements were needed. First and foremost, we changed the name to Data conversion. Data conversion can be used to transform existing data to the new structure, just as version control could, and this screen can be found in the Deployment menu. Thinkwise Suite release 2018.1release notes

The latest version of the Thinkwise Suite has been released! Installing or upgrading the Suite has never been easier. It is no longer necessary to manually run scripts (which were sometimes too large for SQL Server Management Studio to process) and copy files or install web applications. With the Thinkwise Deployment Center, the upgrade is easier and faster. The Deployment Center is included in the software package that can be download from TCP. Just double-click on “twdeployer.exe” and click on the action you want to perform. How to use the changelogBlog

The Code changelog is a new feature that will be released with the G9.8. This feature will make it easier to manage revisions of control procedure and template code. To track changes in code, some developers choose to add a header in the template containing the date, author and a description of every modification. But when there are a lot of development cycles, this header can become rather big. Another disadvantage of this method is that the header is included in the generated code. This is why we created the Code changelog. Completing control proceduresEvery time a control procedure or template is created or it’s code is updated, a record is added to the Code history and the status of the control procedure is changed to Development. Control with spelling or grammar checkOn the backlog

I would like to be able to choose a control that has automatic spelling and/or grammar check. This control can then be used in the SF to check the spelling of help text.   This could also be nice to use in HTML, RTF or multi-lines for orders or data that will be shown on reports and send to customers.

Thinkwise Suite release 2017.1release notes

2017.1?But I was expecting version G9.9!? Well, internally we named this version G9.9, so maybe you’ve heard us talk about that. But now that we are ready to release this new version, we’ve switched to a better version name. The reason for this is that the current version naming does not give any indication about the release date. Some of our customers are still running a G8. It might seem like they’re only one version behind, but the G8 was actually first released in 2012! So, they are missing out on lots of pretty awesome new features! To be more clear about this we’ve switched to a date related versioning scheme, where the name will start with the release year followed by a dot and a sequence number. So the next release will be 2017.2 and maybe we’ll even release a 2017.3 and 2017.4 this year. 🔥 Hotfix - SF 2020.1 - Fixed merge execution error on commentshotfix

While executing a merge session, it possible to get this message: Cannot delete this row due to related ‘Comments’.   This message occurs when a control procedure that was in review, is now deleted in the branch or the trunk. This is hotfixes in 2020.1 by temporarily removing the constraint. In 2020.2 this is fixed by changing the order in which actions are removed. Also, the constraint will be added again and incorrect data will be corrected.   Merge execution message

Thinkwise Suite release 2018.2release notes

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is coming! In Dutch, this is called “Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming (AVG)” and will replace the current privacy legislation. On the 25th of May, every organization has to comply or they will face heavy fines. Internally, our Project Management Officer and Security Officer have already worked on several changes to further secure our processes. And now, we have a new feature build in the Software Factory to help you comply with your SF projects. With this tooling, you can anonymize sensitive data for test and development. More information about this new feature “Data sensitivity” will be coming soon in another blog. New featuresBesides Data sensitivity, we added some more cool features in this new release. In the last few weeks, there have been a lot of post about the G9.8. We are happy to announce that version G9.8 of the Thinkwise Suite is ready! 🔥 Hotfix - IAM 2018.3 - Correct report parameter look uphotfix

A new hotfix is available for IAM. During some testing on 2019.1 we found out that the lookup for report parameters is not calculated correctly in older versions. This bug has been introduced in 2017.1 and will automatically correct itself after upgrading to 2019.1 IAM. The result is that report parameters with a look-up to a table or column, that was not available to that user, will now be hidden. Before the hotfix, the parameter could be visible but untranslated.

🔥 Hotfix - SF 2019.1 - Reachable objectshotfix

With 2019.1 the synchronization has been moved to the SF. This has resulted in a bug where the reachable objects were not calculated correctly for mobile. The bug only occurred after a new project version was synchronized to IAM. The menu was not shown correctly on mobile devices. With this hotfix, the reachable object are now calculated correct during synchronization.
