🚀 Platform improvements for week 16hotfix

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvement this week: IAM 2022.2, 2023.1, 2023.2, 2023.3 20240415 - Corrected effective variant rights Indicium did not always received the correct rights for a variant with a different form layout then its base. This has been corrected. For IAM 2023.2, an additional hotfix came out to resolve an issue:  20240417 - Remove label width and field width from col form function SF 2023.1 20240419 - Correct deletion of delete strategy program object When combining the staged and delete strategies, there was a small chance that program objects were not set stale upon generating definitions which could lead to code being omited from a generated code file. This has been fixed.

Remember last 5 searches in Code SearchNext release

As a developer, I want to be able to quickly switch between my last 5 searches to see the Code search results.This will allow developers to effectively search multiple expressions and inspect the results of these searches quickly. It will also decrease the amount of times a developer would have to Code search once again for the same expressions even though the results would not be any different from the previous search.

Context menu (Right-click) in Cube should name Filter (and Search)Closed

Inside the cube I would like to filter from time to time to only see records that I'm interested in. I can use the short-key Ctrl+R and the Filter option is available through the Top-bar, but the option to filter is not available when I right-click inside the cube. I would like to see Filter (and search) clickable through this menu.

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvement this week: SF 2023.3 20240322 - Enhance used separator for AI code review There's a small chance where the used file encoding interferes with a separator used in code. When running the AI code review platform improvement, this could cause an issue in one of the procedures. This has been improved to prevent the issue.

🚀 Platform improvements for week 11Hotfix

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: IAM & SF 2024.1 20240313 - Universal cube view field sorting Categories and series in cube views will now be properly sorted descending when configured as such. Previously, this would only work when the dimension was sorted on another cube field, such as a total. When a category or series was defined as sorted descending, this would not be picked up by the GUI. The category or series would be sorted ascending. This has been resolved for cube views which are part of the model as well as user-defined custom cube views.

Label Runtime configuration as config to Production environmentOn the backlog

Whilst it is really handy that I can configure Runtime configurations to any environment Indicium has access to, it ultimately can mean that in the speed of development I accidentially run code on the Production enviroment. Luckily with the "create or alter” addition, the code does not get replace if it contained errors, but when it does not contain errors, which of course is most of the time, it successfully deploys code a tad too easy to the Production environment.I would like to be able to label any Runtime configuration as Production environment. This way the default logic underlaying to the Execute task can withhold from auto-filling in this runtime configuration - exception being if the runtime is the Default runtime.Maybe expand it with more than just Production; like Acceptance and Test. Similar to the Model version status.

Back to top button in Universal GUIOn the backlog

When scrolling in a long list and reaching the bottom, I would like a quick way to go back to the top of the list in an instance. A bit similar to the back to top button we have on this Community website.Would be great to have it.

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: SF 2023.3 & 2024.1 20240205 - Allow loading of runtime configurations on SF meta source A column was missing for the Windows GUI to load all active runtime configurations for the given user when starting with the meta source SF. Due to the absence of this column, the GUI did not want to load. This has been fixed.

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvement this week: IAM 2022.2 and up 20240122 - Improve performance for role reference checks In rare occasions, SQL Server uses a query plan that is highly inefficient in calculating source and target object reference rights. This causes a very slow login process and results in a timeout. This improvement resolves this issue.

Sending smooth progressBlog

Hi everyone!Applications built with the Thinkwise platform are usually quite large. Whether that means the application has a lot of screens, tables, users, or anything else, there typically are processes in the application that take a while. To inform users of the progress, you can use the procedure tsf_send_progress. ChallengeThe tricky part when having 10, 20, or even more statements inside the process, is to determine how far the process is in its execution. You would rather not manually place the send progress function before or after every statement and assign a progress value. When new statements are added, or removed, all the progress should be recalculated. However, you do want to inform the user and keep the user up-to-date. How to solve this?This exact scenario occurred in the Software Factory application development. The export model task in the Software Factory is a lengthy process that involves all tables that are part of the model; 295 to be exact at the time of writing.

Vertical list (Screen type)On the backlog

For most cases horizontal lists are the way to go as it displays the value from left to right. But sometimes I would like to be able to make the list vertical. For instance when I'm comparing products I would like to have a vertical list so I can see all the differences side by side. Product comparison websites also use this, see: I think this could make our end products even more great with creating the Wow-effect. Let me know if you agree!

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvement this week: SF 2023.2 & 2023.3 20231221 - Correct model settings history When the Floating label strategy was introduced, an incorrect default value was placed in the history of the table. This would cause an error when attempting to revert to a point-in-time where this value was present. This has been corrected. SF 2023.3 20231222 - Enhance used separator for AI code review There's a small chance where the used file encoding interferes with a separator used in code. 🚀 Platform improvements for week 47Hotfix

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvement this week: SF 2023.3 20231124 - Rights on menu items While trying to modify a menu group, an error could occur because of existing role rights, hindering the group change. This service fix will ensure that these role rights remain intact when changing a menu group using the form. They are automatically applied to the new combination of group and item.   In the 2024.1 it will also be possible to use the Design tab to modify the menu group without any errors. This was not something we could easily include in this service fix. We mentioned this part as a known issue for the 2023.3 platform release.

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: SF 2023.3 20231108 - Field positioning using field sets We now set the "field no. of positions further" to 1 when a field in a form or task/report pop-up is part of a new field set.  A field set defines which fields belong to each other and should be displayed next to each other. Example: Field A Field B - Field C If field B is hidden in the model or due to authorization, field C must not be shown next to field A because it has a different field set.  SF & IAM 2023.2 and up 20231107 - Set client secret not null When trying to encrypt the client secret from oauth server you will get a error which causes that the client secret isn't encrypted. This has been fixed.

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: SF 2023.3 20231030 - Prevent lock during archiving Archiving the current user branch after executing a merge session or manually archiving the current user branch will prompt the user to select a new branch. A previous hotfix ensured the branch currently being archived would not be selected. However, this caused waiting times in certain situations, when the asynchronous archiving would already be running. This situation has been resolved. A different method is now used to prevent that the archiving branch will be chosen as target branch on the switch branch task.

🚀 Platform improvements for week 43 (NEW: AI code review)hotfix

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: SF 2023.3 20231027 - AI Code review implementation 🚀 The Software Factory can now use AI to automatically perform a code review on any control procedure set to be reviewed. After the review, the response is shown as comments on the tab Code review > Comments. To start using the AI code review, enable the AI review checkbox in Software Factory > Maintenance > Configuration > Use AI review. More info on the AI Code review can be found here: Code review | Thinkwise Documentation (thinkwisesoftware.com) On top of this new functionality, a new input parameter is introduced: Temperature. This parameter allows you to tweak the creativity of the AI's responses. It is available for the LLM Completion, Chat completion and Instruction connector. Note: this functionality works best with Indicium 2023.3.11 and up. The current implementation can only review control procedure templates.    SF& IAM 2

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: SF& IAM 2022.1 and up 20231019 - New message translations for indicium The translations for SQL Server database messages regarding merge errors where missing for Indicium. These has been added so Indicium can show these messages.  Upcycler 2023.3 20231019 - Alternative way to check json path exists The enrichment process was using a built-in SQL function that is not supported by SQL Server 2019. However, this version is still supported under our lifecycle policy. We have replaced the function with an equally functional alternative solution.

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvement this week: SF 2023.2 20231003 - Branch archiving improvements When archiving a branch after merging, there was the possibility that the created model version had an incorrect time. Rather than stating a time before the archive took place, it stated a time that was after the archiving. This would result in empty branches once the branch would be unarchived. This has been fixed in addition to other improvements.

Provide code example when creating an Expression, Calculated or Calculation (Function) columnCompleted

When creating a table column that has a calculation type, it is necessary to write some code. Based on the type, the structure of the code will be different from one and other. Such like Expression columns, you can make use of the “T1.” alias, which is the table itself, whilst Calculated columns cannot use this.Just like the code example in Control procedure for SQL-typed CP's, I would like a short example that shows me as a developer what I can (and cannot) use as code.  Example: Expression:  concat_ws(' ', t1.first_name, t1.last_name) --Thanks @Robbert :)   Calculated: (100.0 + tax_percentage) / 100.0   Calculated (function):  select sum(order_total) from sales_order where sales_order_id = @sales_order_id

Hi everyone!We’ve released the following platform improvements this week: IAM 2022.1 and up 20230929 - Fix if prefilter is deleted and up record exists When a prefilter is deleted in the SF and a user preference record exists in IAM for this prefilter. You would get a error when trying to sync to IAM. This has been fixed. SF 2022.1 and up 20230929 - Improved pk comparison when detecting conflicts. Improved the PK comparison in the procedure that checks for merge conflicts, to support creating potential conflicts for post sync code and model settings.

Back button returns user to previous screen in Universal GUICompleted

What I noticed when using the Universal GUI on mobile, if you press the back button that it exits the application. This is, at least for me, unexpected. I would have expected that if I press the back button, that it would go back to the previous screen (if possible). Example, I select a row in a list, go to the form to see some information. Then when I press 'back', I would like the List to be opened again so I can select a different row if desired. From my understanding the Universal GUI is a single page application but I hope there's a way to manipulate the way the back button responds.

What are 'Snapshot' views and how to use them?

As developer we are given some data model table types, namely making a Table, a View or a Snapshot. In the documentation it only says "In a snapshot, just as in a view, data from one or more tables can be combined, though in a snapshot this data is actually saved." I am unsure how to use it and do not really have the time to experiment with it. Is there someone that can show me what a Snapshot is, what it does, how to set it up (in depth preferably) and what advantages (and maybe disadvantages) it has? Thanks in advance!
